5 pages of folks talking about Mowins. How fortunes change? Kirkstreit and Fowler will be on campus for this one. The top announcing crew! What do you think? 2 out of 3 games!
Another case of trading tradition for a few more $$$$$ that's probably going to backfire. Just realized this weekend they now do Big10. So, we traded a great team that was invested in our league for soulless ESPN, which will probably be sold and/or restructured in the next 5 years.
I only like them if we are winning. LOL!!! It will be a good game. It’s got the feel of the 2015 game against Ole Miss. This game will give Herbstreit a chance to say how much we have improved from week 1 to week 3.
They get back to SEC games this week I think, but it is their last year with us. And they weren’t great partners to the league, they refused to renegotiate a few times, by the end of that contract we were underpaid by tens of million dollars on that one weekly game alone. Had they been a better partner we might have still been with them.
Thanks for proving my point. We'll see what the future brings. What I'm hearing, though, is the TV money is about to dry up and that's going to work its way all the way down to the leagues and players. The era of less is upon us. Adapt or die.
I was saying it wasn’t a few dollars, it was a lot of dollars and it was much more CBS who put money over the relationship. Had they worked with us even a little they may still have it. It was something like 250 million a year they were underpaying. Really. That isn’t something you can simply look past, or someone you can trust going forward. There was no chance we were going with them again after that. Why The SEC On CBS Deal Is Worth (at least) $300M Annually But regardless. I would be surprised if the money dried up soon, live sports is about the only thing people will pay for with cable or over the air, if anything it would seem that premium will go up. Longer term though, who knows, Apple and Amazon aren’t really constrained by traditional business models, they can lose some money on these deals and not care. They are the next inflators, but yes at some point the wheel has to stop turning. We will see though.
