I enjoy watching players and teams grow. I enjoy the process. The journey. NIL and the portal have taken a lot of that away but this rebuild has my attention.

Passing game remains weak which is not good with a non runner at QB

 

I don’t care about McNeese. Vs Utah we had negative EPA per pass. That’s not good enough with a QB that can’t run

I am actually okay with Mertz so far this year. He’s playing as good as we can hope. It’s more of a commentary in general. You can’t win much with 0 EPA passing game, especially with no QB run threat

It’s a Gator message board. What exactly are we supposed to talk about other than the performance of the team? Uniforms?

 

Orange over orange is a bit much for my taste.

 

You’re still bashing a passing game that’s quite respectable. Give it up man and stop ignoring the positive indicators that directly refute your insults

By same criteria, where would you judge Milton? Weaker? Invertebrate?

 

It's reasonable to apply a coefficient for McNeese. Likely many deviations from the norm.

But apply at least some of that to Utah. They were a top-20 defense last year (or a top-30 defense.) Only 4 opponents from our 2022 schedule ranked higher. A top defense preseason this year based on having 8 starters return.

Our offense, OTOH, had many new starters, season opener, on the road.

I don't want to read too little into the Utah offensive result. But not too much either. We'll prove better than that, even if our ceiling this year is "middle of the conference offense."
