Tebow was a legendary player and Trask was the unheralded two star that stuck with the program and proceeded to be one of the better quarterbacks in UF history. It's little wonder why people are engaged differently.

BY is tiny compared to AR. I don't mean just the height disadvantage but he's also skinny. Russell Wilson is short, but very muscular.
I'm not sure BY can survive getting trucked like AR did against the Colts.

Well, for his first game and please consider he’s the first quarterback in 22 years to start his first game as QB with under 14 starts, he did really well.

    Less turnovers than Lawrence.

Responsible for both his team’s touchdowns.

Plays with a team with no playmakers.

I’d say his game was good as Lawrences if not better.

    It’s exactly it.

Tebow & Trask had considerable success at UF. AR …not so much. And many had doubts that he could be successful at the NFL level because of it. It wasn’t exactly an unreasonable thought based on his college years. Others who have characterized it as “rooting” or “hoping” he fails, is just made up bullshit.

“The No. 4 overall pick left in the final minute of the Colts' 31-21 loss to the Jaguars after suffering an apparent lower-body injury, with backup Gardner Minshew taking over under center for the final snaps. But Richardson is OK and won't be in danger of missing any time after the game, coach Shane Steichen told reporters later. The rookie flashed with two scores on the day.”

Give AR a Percy Harvin or a Kyle Pitts type of talent to work with and he likely would’ve had more success at UF too.

And it’s not simply a matter of “many had doubts” - many fans took shots at his character and questioned his effort. It was less than a year ago so I don’t know why the history is already being rewritten.

Anyway, glad he’s moved on and is doing his part to prove people wrong.

You have the right mindset, and I think many Gator fans felt the same way. But, there were others on here and other social media platforms, especially during the tail end of last season who were unreasonably harsh on him. To be quite honest, Gator fans had some outsized, and extremely unfair, expectations for a kid with limited experience at the position. From below average talent surrounding him, a prior coach who zoned out and a new coach with a different offense, he had to carry the team at times last year.

I think the argument is that they may not have explicitly said they wish that he fails, but moreso that because he wasn't what some expected him to be at Florida, they have no vested interest in his success in the NFL, which is also terribly unfair. That's a slight difference, but still unfair.

Maybe I'm more sympathetic because I'm also a Gainesville kid who went to Eastside, but it's not like he came from a school known for developing talent. From all the stories we hear about him, he's a quality man and has never spoke ill about anyone. Regardless of how he fared at UF, we should all have an interest in his success.

Yeah and I don't know if I buy that line of reasoning. There have been plenty of former Gators players who got stuck playing on some mediocre teams while they were at UF, yet that didn't stop fans from rooting for their success in the NFL.

You haven’t spent much time on these boards have you? AR gets a TON of hate here

And let’s be clear. AR had success at Florida. He was a top 5 pick for a reason. The team wasn’t good and the offense was merely above average, but that wasn’t due to AR. Sure he could have been better but he was easily our best player (maybe tie with Torrence).

If you opt out of your last game in O&B it definitely takes you down a notch in my mind. I don't think AR was ever serious about winning as much as he was about getting to the NFL, so congrat's to him, but I am not an NFL fan. I wish him the best, but in my mind guys like Tebow and Trask are better examples of team players.

I am rooting for AR, just not as much as Trask. Heck I am rooting for Emory Jones to do well at Cincinnati.

Thanks for being bluntly honest. Now the posters who said “I’ve never seen any fans on here feel that way towards AR” now how concrete proof.

...except that this is not at all what was claimed. Claim was some want him to fail, not he isn't everyone's favorite player ever.

Apologies if already posted, but AR is the …

1st rookie in NFL history with 200+ PASS YDS, 40+ RUSH YDS, 1 PASS TD and 1 RUSH TD in their debut.

Let’s be clear??? Sorry, but you really reached on a couple of statements, and just incorrect on 2 others. Your clarity just differs from reality.
