I've been waiting for the official post from Florida but didn't want to wait any longer . . . so we'll start the pre-game discussion. I'm super excited!
Very winnable game, but… Billy will need to be a little creative with his offense. He will need a tight end on the right side to help George as George will have a hard time blocking their de
Can someone tell me..why checkerboard? What is the significance? I saw someone at the game yesterday wearing those overalls..I almost asked them if they got lost looking for the ut game a week early lol
It hides their shartz stains better than one solid color..I mean you remember Adam Lane? white pants..major fashion emergency..as a Vol you’d never have noticed. Hillbilly engineering!
Gators did everything they were supposed to do against McNeese. My area of concern is the punt return team. They never seem to rush the punter which means they're setting up for a return, but by the time the returner catches the ball he's surrounded by 3 or 4 defenders and goes down where he catches it. They should rush every punt. If they don't get the block then at least hurry the punter and maybe get a shank. Apply some pressure. Setting up for returns certainly isn't working. But then, there's no special teams coach to make those decisions.
And if you want to know the real reason FSU wears garnett and gold..it’s just because they suck. Nothing more.
You’re right and better at analysis than what we have coaching special teams right now..send in your resume..you’re hired. Oh wait can you recognize the number three?
ETGator... That MUST be Junior's uncle? Half brother? ...wait...do they have half brothers in Tennessee??
I agree. If our o-line can get it done, and the tight ends can do their job, we should come out on top. Our young db's will be challenged, and may get burned here and there, but they have serious talent. I'm cautiously optimistic on this one.
Hey everyone. Hope you are all doing well and we have a good game with no injuries. The checkerboard comes from the checkerboard design on top of Ayers Hall that used to be visible before the stadium was enclosed. General Neyland would tell the players to “take it to the checkerboard” When the stadium was enclosed and Ayers Hall no longer visible, the end zones were checkered to continue the tradition of “taking it to the checkerboards” In any case, both defenses look better this year. Not sure what to think of our offense. We’ve thrown 1 downfield deep pass in the first two games. Not sure if that’s been vanilla play calling or taking what defense is simply giving. We’ll know more about both teams come 11pm Saturday
Sportsline has us as 7-point dogs now...eventually losing by 10 points 24-34. Time to circle the wagons, make a statement and protect our home field.
Just saw the explanation. Under General Neyland there was a building beyond the stadium End Zone which had a checkerboard emblem & he used to tell his teams, “Don’t stop until you reach the checkerboard.
