Honestly have read post-loss drunken rants here on GC that were more logically consistent than this piece.

Napier’s team wasn’t ever in it but the fans are to blame for not giving him time? Uh, no. Most fans will be patient and recognize that a lot of freshmen and new transfers played in that game. It was ugly but also demonstrates that recruiting under Mullen really dropped off. I’d like to see better discipline Saturday and especially against UT. If that happens I’ll be satisfied that he’s moving in the right direction.

    Florida fans:

Mullen left the program broken so Napier needs a lot of time

    Also Florida fans:

We should give coaches more time

Mullen was 34-15 at Florida. Was the program broken or did he need more time? Can’t have it both ways

Are you under the impression that Mullen's record is what broke the program and got him fired

Will you? You seem really upset.

See post #44 for something to consider. If you don't agree, that's fine, but no need to be nasty.

Thank you! I forgot to mention that SOS became the highest paid football coach in the universe at the time. I mean, that "probably" had SOMETHING to do with it.

Oh well golly gee, i guess i forgot to mention: im a Gator fan. You know...that group of ppl your lovely OP blamed for 10 years of gridiron ...frustration, mildly mitigated by 2 years of false hope...

as for your post #44--here it is, in all its glory:

How does this establish the causal nexus between Gator fans [allegedly] being so intolerable arrogant and horrible...and the coaches not producing up to expectation?

Bc that is what your article claimed (but neglected to even broach establishing).

IOW--duly considered (twice now), and still found grossly lacking.

Make YOUR case. What did we fans DO (besides daring to show up and still mostly fill the stadium(s), and provide for the general fund that paid all those poor hapless multimillionaire abused victims their fat salaries, and their fatter buyouts...) that caused above market comped professionals to fail to earn their above market compensation???

I have no doubt UAA and Stricklin fed him this story. We’ve been told to be patient for 15 years. Called spoiled and entitled.
And in that time we have been through 4 coaches that have repeatedly lost to Vandy, Kentucky, Georgia southern, all our rivals… we’re stubborn on recruiting or calling offense. We’ve seen the worst defense in gator history repeatedly and the worst offense repeatedly.
And the whole time it’s OUR FAULT?? Not Stricklin for paying millions to hire and fire the wrong guy. Not UAA for not being out in front of facilities and recruiting. Not the coaches. But us? Negative entitled impatient gator fans.

this is complete and total hack job further fragmenting our base against eachother instead of the actual problem.
Ya know, while we’re at it- I guess Jets fans, Lions fans, Browns fans etc are the problem and not ownership

The day the administration pays me a consulting fee for a recommendation on the next coaching hire, is the day I'll start to take blame for that coaches failures.

Recruiting got him fired. Now we have a good recruiter who's a nave in terms of developing and calling an offense. It's really annoying.

No, his complete and utter disregard for anything other than being an OC (including recruiting) got him fired. There's an entire article detailing just how little he cared about building the program.

Mullen had many things going in the right direction but he really shot the bed. It was obvious to all,

Can't say it's helpful to keep rehashing it but listening to an fsu fan at the gym today talk about their team today just made me even more bitter with Mullen than ever. Mullen beyond every other failed coach here chose his path. The other guys were in over their heads. He chose to quit on the program. Fsu took the momentum of a decent year last year and built a great transfer class again which has now bled into their best year of recruiting in years. Everything has broken their way as well to add Insult to injury.

Mullen and Grantham were unable to take the momentum of 18 and 19 and do anything with it. Flirting with the NFL and waiting for recruiting season instead of living the "maximum strain" or "Gator standard" he preached. We had one of the greatest years ever from a recieving tight end and yet our rivals scooped up the best tight ends going forward. We got one win in zipperer at the time and No one else. He had a Heisman candidate QB followed by a dearth of experience behind a limited starting qb. I'll never believe he didn't think 2020 was going to be springboard into the NFL via the SEC championship and it all fell apart starting with lsu. He had no fortitude to dig himself out of the mess he created when he was stuck returning with in 21. Wasted the potential of 19 and 20 with Grantham and then left us mediocre across the board after. All of this while our most bitter rival won titles and the other one had one foot in the grave as a program.

Imagine my tantrum if i was still as passionate a fan of sports as i was in my 20s. I feel for the younger generations that have had so little success over the past 15 years. Rant over. Fire away.

Yep coaches should have picked up the short players on the FG. Plus on plays like that there is a player whose job is to count men on the field, that’s also a coaching thing. Maybe one short. But 3!!!!

    Bush league.

True although I’m not really sure about the NFL desire.

Now we got a “program builder” according to the “experts”. Too bad we can’t seem to get the simplest things done game in and game out. That has little to do with the players at this point.
Recruiting is good this year but last year wasn’t that great and the portal was a bust.
Glad we have all those assistants to help the details.
