Pre-Game Discussion: McNeese at FLORIDA (Let's Get Behind Our Gators!)

The only good news is that we aren’t in our typical Saturday 12 pm game slot.

 

...and some earplugs, please...for when the whiskey runs out.

 

I meant we will learn nothing from this game on Sat. Playing somebody this bad won't tell us anything.

 

Yep, the game with vollies will answer a lot of questions.

 

That may be somewhat true if the team looks great. However, if the team struggles to move the ball on the ground, commits a bunch of procedure penalties, fields punts inside the 5, etc, it will say that the game 1 negatives are more fundamental than just a one game outlier. Hope that isnt the case.

 

I can listen to beth all day long as long as we are scoring TD after TD.

No problem!

Keep the game under control, build a decent lead, then get more of the younger ones playing time.

Need experience more than big points.

We learned our lesson the hard way about opening up with a tough team (although I doubt we thought Utah would be so tough when we scheduled the game) back in the 80s.

We used to open up against Miami back when Miami was really good. Win or lose, we tended to lose a couple of key players because they weren't ready for that kind of war that early in the season.

I'm 100% fine with a cupcake or two to start the season. Give the kids a game or two to work out the kinks. This isn't the pros, and these kids don't practice year round.

That’s why the nfl has a preseason but they don’t count tgat crap as real games.

 

Because we are the best conference and actually play a decent schedule, we or any team can lose our first game, go undefeated from here on out, win the conference and be a lock for the playoff. If Utah lost to us, they would very likely be eliminated because their schedule is littered with cupcakes. Maybe everyone could get together and everyone play two trash games as a preseason as it really is used as glorified practice. The nfl doesn’t even really try to win those games as everyone knows they are worthless walkthroughs .

 

To lay a turd against a team like Menesse State would be the equivalent of the meteor strike that wiped out the dinosaurs. I see only positives.

BUT for God's sake can Bordingham play? Enough of the bench nonsense.

I haven’t gotten the sense tgat Napier is hiding talent on the bench like Mullen. If Bordingham isn’t playing, I’m thinking he just isn’t good enough until proven otherwise. It seems Napier values blocking over flash but we’ve seen neither. I didn’t see anything out of our tes to think we need a particular one of them on the field. I didnt ’t see any blocking or catches that made me say play a particular guy for said advantage. I tend to agree with tge crowd of get a wr on the field if that’s all we are going to get. It was only one game and this game won’t mean much. This is going to be a walkthrough to determine if we can get our uniforms on, line , up and go with the snap count. How we block and tackle won’t mean much unless we can’t do it.

I would normally agree. But after what we saw in the first game, I think we need all the practice we can get. To be frank, we actually need this game to go well to help us prepare for UT. I'm not looking down my nose at anyone these days - not with the mountain we've got to climb in the coming weeks. Like Daddy Bush said..."Wouldn't be prudent."
