I highly recommend watching Offense then Defense. The O will put you on the edge of the cliff, then the D will give you a hug and bring you back.
Yeah, he's basically been saying our routes suck for a year now. Not a fan of the bunch sets. His tone is eerily reminiscent of the one he had when he was beating the drum on Grantham.
@ 1:16:50 that’s the triangle offense Phil Jackson ran, just not with the same results, obviously. I’m a big admirer of Billy, just not his offensive design, it’s rinky-dink, imho. It’s based way too much on deception and fakes, motion on every play out of bunch sets, it FCS-ish. It rarely fools anyone, and that’s the only way it can work. Time is never of essence either. Call a play, get to the line, don’t do the Meerkat look around, snap the damn ball, waiting only makes the OL move, then beat the defense to spots. My hope is Billy scraps this heap after the season, please!
How much longer will it be necessary to lead with “I love Billy, but …” ? This ain’t family. It’s paid for sports-entertainment.
I love Billy, but being down 3 scores and burning 30 seconds between plays in the 4th quarter is no way to play to win.
I believe there is some validity to the school of thought that says that better players make the offense look better. For example, that whole orbit motion play looked better with Wilson than it ever did with Henderson. It never worked, not even once, with Henderson. That having been said, I have had concerns about this offense since CBN was at Louisiana. I watched that conference championship game just to see what we might expect, and I was not impressed. And that was with 4 years worth of his players. He really needs to bring in a proper OC.
Hmmmm...I still have a fair amount of hair on top. I wonder if I grow it out that long would I be able to get it to stick up a full 4". I've always wanted to be over 6' tall
It's basically to avoid having a variety of accusations and insults hurled your way or the assumption that if you don't like him you must hate him, what other conclusion could there be?
It's obvious yet there are posters that that swear it's our ticket to an NC and that those who don't like it don't understand offensive football. Then they will post a bunch of links and videos trying to convince you of it's brilliance.
It's hard to watch but if you put the video setting at 1.5 speed it's easier to look at. The offense and the hair. His tune has changed greatly on the defensive side of the ball if you watched him breakdown the Grantham years. Sadly, his frustration has now shifted to the offensive side. He admits to not always knowing what players assignments are during these breakdowns but the guy does know something. It is frustrating that we can't seem to get it right when it comes to offense AND defense. Seems to be one or the other since Meyer left. Take this year's defense and pair it with mullens offenses and I think we would be cruising.
