The theatrical way you antagonize and spike the ball when you haven't won an argument, but just change semantics so that you can pretend at victory, lends credibility to your claims of being a lawyer. The quality of your arguments does not lend credibility to you being a very good one.

And I just want to call out and document that you're throwing an adorable hissy fit right now, going back to all my previous Too Hot posts over the last couple weeks and "disliking" them. I must have struck a nerve today. Bless your fragile little snowflake heart.

He’s like a Seminole - spiking the ball after a 2 yard gain or taunting a tackled receiver who just caught a 25 yard pass.

The pure irony of your post is priceless. So I’ll put you in the camp of “thinkers” on this message board who think the United States defeated “Russia” in a proxy war in 1989. No matter how much nonsense you and your tribe post it doesn’t make it true. The 10 or 15 of you liberals who gather around defending each other in a message board circle jerk also equally fails to give credibility to anything you folks promote. At the end of the day chemgator’s post was ludicrous. You can’t defend poo.

I do think it’s cute that you think I care on whether you think I won an argument.

You can’t seriously be disputing that the Soviet Union was simply Russia and its subject peoples, can you? Go back and watch any Cold War movie and observe how colloquially the Soviets are commonly referred to as “Russians.” That’s a silly hill to die on. It wasn’t like he accidentally called China as Japan or vice versa.

Russia does not have to "take over" a country to damage it severely. Even their pathetic attempt to take over Ukraine has left millions of mines on the ground, thousands of civilians dead, maimed, and tortured, and caused a major disruption to Ukraine's economy. I'm guessing that most of Europe does not want to relive the Ukraine experience in the first person.

When all else fails, the knuckle-draggers fall back on semantics and clownish memes. Something a low-rent lawyer might do. Maybe its all he's got.

Even if you wanted to make a distinction between the Soviet Union (a collection of countries that included Russia) and Russia, you would have to admit that it was Russia that was calling all the shots. Poland, Belarus, East Germany, Bulgaria, and the rest of them did not get a vote. The were completely vassal states, required to follow orders or be invaded (check with the Czechs). Any attempt at "representation" of these states in USSR meetings was purely window-dressing.

do you call your wife your sister? I think the English language deserves to be used properly. The Soviet Union was not Russia.

It’s like an old episode of the Three Stooges. I’m just trying to figure out who is Moe.

You cared enough to look up my post history in order to dislike messages from weeks ago. Methinks the “counselor” doth protest too much.

but I dislike everything about you, and your post here lacks any semblance of rational analysis. Me not liking you has nothing to do with me not giving a poop about your thoughts, likes and dislikes. Don’t mistake my apathy for feelings.

You avoided the question somewhat clumsily. Why did you look up his post history just to leave a series of dislikes? The answer is obviously not apathy and, most definitely, not a lack of poop.

because he left me a bunch of consecutive thumb downs an hour earlier. So I read some of his posts and gave him the attention he was craving. I personally don’t get the whole post ranking thing. I rarely rate any post because I think the concept is stupid and childish. But some people think it’s important…like that guy. So I’m a kinda eye for eye guy. LOL.

I think I give way more positive feedback than negative, but I don’t keep track. My feedback is rare, and usually responsive/reactive.

I’m really surprised this even merits a post from you. Do you even care?

The Soviet Union was Russia with some vassal states, which bordered Russia. Yes, in 1989 the United States via Osama Bin Laden and the Taliban won a proxy fight against Russia. So obviously we must do it again, because Afghanistan, the Taliban and OBL turned into such great allies for us and we need to work that same magic in Ukraine now!!

    1) Maybe, just maybe, the Ukrainians are different in some ways than the people of Afghanistan. Less Islamic influence, for one thing. More legitimate agriculture and industry, for another (no poppy fields or heroin exports).

    2) Maybe, just maybe, we will pay attention to the rebuilding of Ukraine after Russia is defeated. Maybe we can learn our lesson from Afghanistan, where we spent nothing to help rebuild Afghanistan after Russia destroyed it. The people were starving, and they turned to the Taliban to run the country after their pro-western leader was assassinated. We could have spent a tiny fraction of the money that we saved on defense spending in the 1990's on rebuilding Afghanistan, and they would probably have turned into a happy, pro-western democracy. Instead, we turned our backs on the country that fought our war for us and left them on what was left of the battlefield to die. Sometimes, being small-minded and tight-fisted with a dollar is not the best answer. We spent a ton of money on Afghanistan in the 2000's, but it was too late by then. The warlords of the Taliban were entrenched in power.

Bro...pardon the friendly fire, but...don't ever do that shit again (that is, don't lose your shit and go stalking a poster down lighting 'em up with DL's....). That's the number 1 reason I put ppl on ignore--not because the DL's are a bid deal, but b/c It's a sign of mental illness and patent inability to keep the posting separate from the poster.

    fwiw.

let me know when you are going to make a point, so I pay attention. If your point was that a joke from Ronald Reagan, 40 years ago, establishes anything, then maybe the joke is on you?
