Interesting call there. Klubick slides short of the 1st down. Defender called for a dead ball late hit targeting. Possession still goes to Duke, then the penalty is assessed. Announcers don't like it...

 

That call felt wrong. Duke went 3 and out though so it didn't doom Clemson. But not a tone of time left and Clemson still needs 2 TDs.

 

Also of note: Clemson down 2 scores, snapping the football with 30 seconds left on the play clock.

 

It’s over. Pick. 3rd TO. Dukies with huge upset.

 

And that INT may seal the deal.... Way to go Duke! Didn't see this coming.

Didn't like that call at all. Hopefully if a rule it gets looked at in the off season.

 

This is a BAD look for Dabo. But kudos to Duke if they can close this out (its not over yet).

Yeah. By the letter of the rulebook, dead ball, possession flips. But I could easily see this getting revisited...

The mind blowing thing is Duke didn't just win, the score was 28-7! That's going to raise lots of eyes when people see that score tomorrow morning.

 

Hit cant be late if play still active.

If play is dead and he is short of line to gain then ball goes over on downs before penalty assessed.

Conversely if play was still active then they coukd have simply called personal foul targetting, and that penalty would have been added to the end of the play.
