That call felt wrong. Duke went 3 and out though so it didn't doom Clemson. But not a tone of time left and Clemson still needs 2 TDs.
Yeah. By the letter of the rulebook, dead ball, possession flips. But I could easily see this getting revisited...
The mind blowing thing is Duke didn't just win, the score was 28-7! That's going to raise lots of eyes when people see that score tomorrow morning.
Hit cant be late if play still active. If play is dead and he is short of line to gain then ball goes over on downs before penalty assessed. Conversely if play was still active then they coukd have simply called personal foul targetting, and that penalty would have been added to the end of the play.
