Bill Maher compares woke liberals to KKK on Joe Rogan show: They see race 'first and foremost' | Fox News

Comedian Bill Maher said far-left progressives were comparable to the Ku Klux Klan due to their fixation on race in a new interview.

"You’re like liberals back when they were more reasonable before they became leftists. And now every liberal kind of has to be a leftist," Rogan said. "If you want to be on the team, you’ve got to subscribe to the most fringe ideas that the team is promoting."

"They believe race is first and foremost the thing you should always see everywhere, which I find interesting because that used to be the position of the Ku Klux Klan," Maher said, invoking the White supremacist hate group. "Again, you can have that position, but don’t say that’s a liberal position. You’re doing something very different."

Earlier this month, Maher took aim at Democrat-run cities over their handling of homelessness and migrants on his "Club Random" podcast. While discussing the quality of life in American cities, Maher's guest Sharon Osbourne, who spoke about how she's moving back to England, said how London has homeless people, but it's "nothing like here" since they "cannot set up home in the streets."

It's nice to see a person on the call out these wackos

I think it’s fine to regard the woke (and Covidians and warmongers) as busybodies walking around in white robes and pointy hats.

Comedians have a legit axe to grind with liberals and their impositions on free speech. It has lost them a lot of income by virtually removing college campus circuits from their tour repertoires.

He espouses the horseshoe theory of politics. I don’t think he remotely views the far left as more than a small minority of people.

I have been following him for a long time. Maher seems to think the left has changed, but the left has supported things like affirmative action and the need to have a discussion about race for a long time. I think Maher has changed and may or may not realize it. Here’s where he was in 2012.

Maher: Trump's 'racist,' Clint is an…

“To me, where racism is today, it’s denying that racism exists. That, to me, is very racist. If you ask people on Planet Tea Bag what the problem is racially in America, it’s probably reverse racism, Larry. That’s where the problem is, white people who cannot get a break because of all these affirmative action laws. They really believe that. So is Donald Trump a racist? Not an overt one. As he has said many times, ‘The black people love me.’ ‘The blacks love me.’ And, by the way, they love being called ‘the blacks,’ also. So he’s one of those racists who doesn’t know he’s a racist, but yes, he is.”

    ****

Now, the content of what he said shocked me because I did not know that Clint Eastwood was such a down the line, right-wing a—hole. I knew he was sort of conservative, you know. But I had no idea that he was such a typical teabagger, doesn’t know the facts, had everything all wrong, just this old white guy who feels the claw being plied off the lever of power.”

Yeah, no valid concerns apart from lost income.

It's a catchy thing to say and there's no question that some elements focus (in my opinion) way too much on race. Way too much. A few basic differences, though:
The 'far left progressives' do not claim, at least as far as I know, that one race is superior to the other and that the inferior one must remain subordinate to the superior one.
They do, at least as far as I know, demand segregation.
And then, of course, there's the absence of hangings, etc., from the far left progressives.

He was only comparing one aspect. The one where they see race first. It wasn’t a moral equivalency.

I've mentioned this before. I hang out almost exclusively with libs. Yesterday in lieu of the LD camping trip we used to all take together, we just had a get together. Most of us are now empty nesters & hence our kids are becoming political. These folks are almost uniformly shocked how their kids leftist politics have jumped the shark. Last night it was about all the things we can't say anymore - master bedroom, Indian giver, etc. I suggested a book of no-no words & phrases & pointed out we could update it every year. Someone, said, or, every week.

According to these folks the left has most def changed. It's kinda funny seeing pretty damn liberal people bemoaning things being too liberal.

I don't know what that has to do with the post you replied to but whatever.

Late night shows exist to lampoon buffoons. Trump, MTG and Boebert are ripe for it.

I don't really disagree. & I certainly do not sympathize with folks who act like they are victims of "sensitivity" b/c they can't use racist language anymore. However, I am not sure all of this is the result of an evolutionary process. Some of it seems driven by a small minority of people who want to tirelessly be offended - usually on behalf of others.

    This
"Indian Giver" is offensive, though, and meant to be ...

But it's nothing new. My wife worked at Sears in Gainesville in the mid-90s while I was going to school, and she got reprimanded and actally asked "are you racist?" by her manager for describing a customer as "oriental". She didn't even say it to the customer, but the manager asked her to describe the customer ... When she told me that, both of us had no idea that was offensive because our families said it growing up...
