Do you think Napier is smart enough to make changes on offense next year or just continue the same thing? I just don’t understand why a coach would want to make their life harder than it has to be . Look at Saban , he brings in great OCs and they hang around a few years until they get head coaching gigs and then he goes and gets the next best guy. Why be so hell bent on calling all the plays , running your scheme and also be responsible for the whole team . Seems to me that could burn you out after a few years , especially not being successful. Why not go get an offense guru, hand over the offense and let him cook. I’m also not a fan of this bunching up the offense in the middle of the field and run these slow plays . UF is blessed to be in one of the top states that produces talent , especially speed. Why not run and offense that showcases that speed . This offense does the opposite. You see teams all the time be successful with less talent but with a great scheme. Why not run a wide open spread offense but also recruit your ass off and have 4 and 5 stars running it . If you’re a recruit in Florida, what would make you choose to come here over FSU , especially top playmakers? I hope Billy can put his ego away and do what needs to be done . If he does he will make it here. If not , we are in for many more years of purgatory.

Lots of coaches don't like to admit to being wrong.

While we are talking about this, how about a quality full time special teams coach.

UF does not appear to have play design to creat mismatches for WRs or RBs in space. Nothing that fools the D. Oregon State and Utah were very prepared for our running game and plays. Every team will play us this year dating us to throw and will not have to dedicate a spy to the QB like teams do when you have a great running QB

You are assuming he makes it to year 3. If this team loses to any combination of KY, Vandy, Arkansas, SC and Missouri the pitch forks will be out in mass.

Hmmm, Mullen never changed recruiting habits, nor changed coaches until he had to, so I don't know what BN will do.

who gets released to make room for an OC and ST coach?

Drop one of the oline coaches?
Drop the TE coach and have BG coach all the receivers?
Drop Bateman and have Peterson coach the DE's and LB's? or vise versa?

There will need to be an overhaul of the coaches to bring in 2 job specific coaches.

I just don’t see UF paying that buyout, plus Billy asked to be given time .

I tend to agree that Billy will be given a minimum third year. But 6-8 so far is not inspiring confidence that he’s the answer.

The answer lies in whether you believe the change in DC last year was driven by Napier or not.

The problem Billy is facing is 2-fold
    1. Long rebuilds look bad when compared to your rivals doing it faster
    2. Running 2 tight end, slow, bunch sets, lots of play action… Is going to be difficult to win in the SEC, we don’t have the olline to play that style right now, and kids may not want to play in that offiense when they see your rivals going four and five wide receiver.
So we may not get a chance to find out if Billy’s system works… I see a lot of people today, comparing Mike Norvell and Florida State to Florida and asking that we give Billy the same vote of confidence and patience to let this materialize… But that’s apples and oranges. FSU plays in the ACC where it was easier to rack up Some wins and Norv was really aggressive in the transfer portal and they run an offense That’s a little more fun to play it.

Seems a tad premature to be talking about what anybody learned from "this season."

We’ve only played one game this year; of course, we stunk it up and coaching was dismal. Would you be thinking this if we had lost 24-21? Last year, we beat Utah at home on a last minute interception at the goal line. We were giddy with the win but last season was not great.
I’m hardly a pumper but many teams lose their first game and look terrible; I only hope we improve each game, win the games we are supposed to win and are competitive in the games we are not favored to win. It is what it is this year.
