What I'd like to see right now is Plan 9 from Outer Space.

Don’t give up on 2023 just yet, fellas. What I saw (although freakin’ frustrating) were all pretty simple fixes and not permanent fixtures of this program moving forward.

Norvelle isn't going to have a QB that is in his 6th year of college football and his fourth year as a starter and fourth year in his system every year. It makes a bit of a difference. Look at Steson Bennett, a six year player that wins a championship in years 5 and 6.

Actually it's one of the most accurate indicator of a coach...

GA wins despite Bennett, not because of him

It's pretty simple indeed. BN needs to put either Frost or Herman, or whoever is better than these two on the staff asap (as analyst), listen to them and promote them in the off season. Everything else would be just duct tapes and bandaids...

Would think Baylor or TCU would be at the top, as teams then lost to lower ranked opponents at home. LSU as well as blown out by a lower ranked opponent at a neutral site game. Losing an away night game against Higher ranked opponent at altitude is not horrific. Sloppy play might have been horrendous but not as bad a loss as the three mentioned

Valid point, but man, it pains me to say that team looked like it doesn't have many holes. Will be interesting to see if they have the typical Wake Forest head slapper they tend to do every year.

To new to the Norvell analogy I expect us to demolish a top five team right out of the chute next year.

That is not a very good take. It is not like he threw 20 picks and the defense bailed him out every game. He completed 65% of his passes in 2021 and 68% in 2022 and didn't throw more than 7 picks in either year. Oh geez, look what you just made me do. You've got me defending Stetson Bennett. I need to go take a shower now.

How can a team of holes not have many holes?

They are much improved but I'm not ready to buy in yet. Up until this year Norvell's recruiting has been subpar and playing the transfer portal game will only get you so far in my opinion. Also, let's see how he does with a QB without the improvisational skills of Travis. After 5+ seconds, someone is going to be open. I don't care how good the opposing team's secondary is. Norvell has caught lightning in a bottle at the QB position with Travis' ability to extend plays while remaining an accurate passer. Pretty rare combination that Norvell will not get to enjoy after this season. As I stated, they are much improved, but mostly due to Travis' heroics. I'd break down every other position group as average to slightly above average by SEC standards.

You didn't get the point. Never said D bailed him out. Most of SEC QBs last year, with that supporting cast, would do the same thing, and probably better. that's the point.

Are you referring to rival fan base perceptions? These were some recent perceptions of rival coaches.
    • Kirby Dumb isn't a good coach.
    • Keep Norvell!
    • Brian Kelly can't coach. He just played easy schedules at Cincinnati and ND.
    • Urban left cause he was scared of Saban.
    • Mullen > Harbaugh & Chip Kelly

One of life's great mysteries. It's unknowable at this point. We will have a better idea after UT

Don't single out a few points. It's useless. The indicator is if the majority of the rival fans want that team to keep the coach or not.

So you really do feel that rival fans' perceptions are one of the most accurate indicators of a coach's success.

Portal gave them a good 2022 and now a top 5 ranking in 2023. What more would you want?
