Not really. However the irony isn’t lost on me. His first and second years were far worse than BNs. Many on here making fun of the player lining up backwards and penalties etc. Then we see all the pitchforks out for BN after game 1 of year 2 and everyone talking about what Norvell has built. Short term memory loss I guess.
I’m with you. I ain’t crowning him. I’m just saying I wished they still had Taggart. This dude seems to be turning the program around. I realize that they are broke, but their NIL alumni base is still got some funds to bring in some talent for the time being. We need to keep them in the ACC and not the SEC or B1G.
I thought it was good hire by them. I’m just not gonna use it to take pot shots at our current coach like some are.
Our two biggest rivals with young, talented coaches... I sure hope our current staff finds a way to get it together.
You mean UT and FSU? They are both offensive minded dudes like Mullen. We have a program builder like Saban or Smart if we are lucky. So offense wins quickly like Mullen, but can’t maintain and flame out…that’s the hope.
It's hilarious. I actually wanted Norvell when we hired Mullen. Then, while UF was wrecking FSU on the field thanks to the mess Norvell inherited, he was turning them around while Mullen ran UF into a ditch. Now the same posters who were undoubtedly mocking FSU and Norvell for being in over their heads are doing the same with Napier. Norvell's team also just thoroughly outplayed Kelly's (another coach all the negative Nancies have been slobbering over) on national TV. That absolutely would not have happened in his second year. Maybe giving coaches time to get things going is the right approach.
The last three coaches (Meyer in some ways) drove the car into the ditch. Some just want to put another racer behind the wheel and get back on the track. we need a damn mechanic right now.
And Meyer was an unproven coach from a lesser conference. All he did was win 2 titles before flaming out. I kinda get why Cav rails against this fan base on rivals, tbh. People here make a hormonal woman seem calm and rational
I've said from the beginning I'm not judging Napier on anything on-field till 2024. I do hope he eventually brings on an OC, but that's mainly because I prefer a different style of offense. He's clearly made strides in the culture, recruiting, and everything else off the field. 4-7 wins this year won't bother me at all, mainly because I have real things to worry about. But in 2024 I expect things to significantly progress
Imo, these days unless your team is loaded on both sides of the ball, the portal is more important than recruiting. That is, if your motto is “win now”.
Want a true test of where we are? Go on a rivals board and ask if they think we should give Napier a few more years. I’ll bet it will be a resounding YES. Which is what most of this board wants also apparently. So I guess we are in great shape, no?
I’m worried that despite all the buzz about how Scott Stricklin “got his man” back when Napier was hired, we may come to find out that in reality it may have been another panic-hire
F$U went 5-7 year 2 against an easy schedule with a game 2 loss to Jacksonville State. It seems in our year 2 the D has been 'fixed'. Obviously not a TG situation. Is the O in general fixable? I have to believe it will be fixed, if not this year then upcoming off season. I don't believe CBN will TG the O and keep as is until we need to make a change at the top. The holes demonstrated we have to be patient.
