I like what you’re saying, but Norvell is gonna be a problem. We need LSU to win big tonight. I think you missed the fact that FSU is #6 in recruiting for 2024. Norvell has turned his NIL focus to HS and they are getting some big time commits.
It amazes me that people can't see that success breeds success. For a long time he struggled with HS recruiting. Now look at what one season of hype did for them. People talk like the portal is some sort of fool's gold but it is a part of the modern day landscape of college football. Using it isn't some sort of a sign of a broken program.
I don’t mind the portal and wished we used it to land some WRs as I pleaded for the past two offseasons. I think the Noles have built this entire 2023 season around the portal and their 2024 team is going to look much different. Unless he is about to pull in a bunch of starters from other schools, he is going to have to rely on his recruiting classes. That isn’t going to go well. We are a year away though, so I’ll let it play out. Also I realize their recruiting class is ranked higher than they usually are but not all 4 stars are 4 stars.
I’m sure most people wouldn’t pick Colorado to win but it wasn’t like people thought they would be shut out. I didn’t expect TCU to lose but I wasn’t surprised it ended up being a shootout.
Mullen was an offensive Guru too. We got him after 7 years of yearning for offense and we see how that ended. Funny thing is outside of 2020 year of Trask, Mullens avg points per game over those other 3 years is identical to the points per game CBN put up last year.
He did last year we had the most transfer out in the SEC and almost the nation. This year it was Colorado. Where Florida sits with the transfer portal right now | GatorCountry.com He also gutted the recruiting class when he was first hired and recruited the whole class with people of his choosing in the remaining 2 months.
This has been said over and over again in this thread…to deaf ears. We should have looked better than this…way better.
Norvell runs a high powered offense and got some stud players. We have zero idea how their character is at this point.
Certainly hope so, because that would mean he shows some meangful improvement. Otherwise, it really depends on what happens with our AD.
We did play them close. In fact if we don’t come out of the half and have 3 straight 3 and outs with passes(when we were gutting them with the run), I think we win that game. I think you’ll see Norvell will have a good class this year actually.
In the last 10 minutes I watched a West Virginia transfer stuff the FSU rb behind the line and watched a Mich State transfer make a huge catch for the Noles. The portal can be huge.
