That is a rather myopic viewpoint IMHO.

Weather is often a significant factor in a game.

There is no doubt that last year's Utah game was significantly affected by stifling weather. That we were prepared for and Utah was not. Utah does not have that kind of humidity. Very few places do.

Utah steamrolled just about everyone they played in the last quarter of their games last year except for us.

There is no way that we even come close to Utah last year anywhere but at home early in the year when the heat and humidity were stifling.

They beat some of the top teams in the nation last year.

Something we could not have done except at our place early in the season. Note the fact that we almost beat Alabama at our place on a stifling evening where Bama looked completely gassed.

It is extremely difficult to play in Florida most of the season until the temperatures cool.

An advantage we have exploited for years!

I really do enjoy the debate. We have loyal gators on both sides. I don't think we will do well but Napier deserves a third year. I said 4-8 to 6-6. I would love to eat crow. And if the gators turn it around there will be plenty of people on this board telling how wrong I was.

Give me the negative fans any day of the week over the people on here who have anointed themselves as the paragons of fandom and arbiters on how everyone should conduct themselves. Who will tell you you're being too negative while inserting comments like "no cojones." I completely understand others who have doubts about how the rules are applied.

I guess I’m glad I’m not a mod cuz I would be the best kicker they have and it might not be good for business. I get out of line too as most of us do at times but I try to stay between the lines and not be a douchebag. It’s hard sometimes

If you were a mod would kick yourself for asking if our players were mentally challenged?

Unfortunately, no one can control weather or conditions.

Playing at 5000 feet of altitude in SLC, Utah is beyond our means to control.

Unless one invents a new football uniform that furnishes oxygen while you play and that would probably be illegal.

Playing there is a tremendous advantage for those who live at altitude.

Those who do not live at altitude will usually lose badly when they play there!

He played like it was his first collegiate start. Its to be expected especially in a reasonably hostile environment. He also missed at least one block in pass protection that led directly to a sack, #7 also had a pitiful attempt with the same result (as a 2nd year player with considerable experience). The performance at center could have been much worse but i’m pretty sure Jake feels like he will play much better next time out. This is what growth looks like wrt developing experience

Did the weather cause multiple key penalties? Did the weather cause 2 guys wearing the same number? Did the weather cause us fielding the ball near our goal line? Did the weather cause us to play with no urgency? Did the weather cause us to shank a punt? Did the weather cause us to miss a fg? Just asking.

The altitude could have caused all of those. Altitude often affects one's ability to process quickly, function in a normal manner, etc.. Can cause dizziness, nausea and many other side effects.

I do not understand why people cannot grasp this idea.

How many people on here have moved from a low altitude like Florida to a higher altitude like SLC or higher?

It takes time to adjust fully (weeks!)and you do not do anything in a hurry.

Playing football at a 100% level (all out) would probably cause dizziness, mental problems, etc.

It was a definite advantage for Utah.

Football players are also bigger people and they are going to be affected more by altitude than trim, skinnier people.

I do not understand where the problem is.

Do some research. Google is your friend.

There is no point arguing about this. A sudden shift to a significantly higher altitude will cause cognitive problems as well as physical problems.

Why do they call it an advantage if it is not?

I'll go with Spurriers quip "excuses are for losers". Let's see, last year loses no talent, no unity, this year's excuses we're playing lots of youth and high altitude and o the crowd was noisy. If that works for you go with it.

It was one game, the 1st game at that against probably the toughest opening day opponent in of all the SEC teams played factoring in thatbonly LSU and USCe are the only others who played a team with a pulse except their games were on neutral fields and we traveled the furthest west we've gone on 40 years to play a conference champ in their house.
