There’s nothing wrong with worrying. I don’t think we have reason to be confident that we have our savior just yet. But just like the players, keep our heads up and show some fortitude. Teams that crumble at the first sign of adversity never amount to much. Napier will have to make it through some tough times because there are plenty of hurdles to go through.

Michigan was in the CFP last year and is ranked #2 this season but it didn't come in 2 years, in fact even though he's a wolverine alum most of their fans were wanting to run him out of town because he just wasn't clicking. But he had a plan, much Like he did at Stanford and now look where it got him, their administration's patience and belief has paid off and they are relevant again. We've got to let this play out. With the things CBN can control he has made a difference in a quick manner program wise, the other part of it take time and continuity.

Point being, we are animated because we care. But we should also be temperate because we care.

Easy for me to say because i had zero expectations for the season. My projection was 6-6, but given two choices it would not have been anything better.

What I wanted to observe thus season is improvement. And there clearly still is room for improvement.

If and when I see that I will celebrate.

I appreciate getting rid of the trolls. That said I have seen Mertz up close and personal living up in Wisconsin and giving realistic opinions about his performance during the game is not going off the deep end in my opinion.

As an old Gator fan, here is where I fall today. I could take a 6-6 year if we showed the discipline, teamwork, and steady growth the BN process is supposed to provide. The team dissolved last year but those were Mullen players. All preseason we read how committed to each other these players/coaches are coming into this year. UF desperately needs stability.

But that was not shown at Utah. All the above takes me back to an HBC quote - “show me a good loser, and I will show you a loser.” The coaches and players should be enraged after the Utah game. Not because they lost but b/c of the lack of discipline. I hope asses are being chewed and changes are being made.

Does that apply to fans? Not really. I’m watching and supporting the players and Napier because they are the Gators and it is far too early to scream “burn it down.” However, that does not mean discussion on Gator boards should ignore blatant issues, especially when they relate to BN’s supposed strengths of organization and discipline (8 guys on the field for a FG try? Really?).

While Mullen was here it was crystal clear that Grantham was a problem. Mullen fired him at the very end, and now stories are out about what poison Grantham was to that team. Sometimes coaches should not be trusted and have to change. Hell, Spurrier despised the shotgun, and then won a Nattie with it.

I’m hopeful that Napier sees these issues and has the courage and flexibility to address them. But the Utah game did not help my hope and pointing to those problems is fair.
