Some coaches have it, some don’t. Napier may be the next Lincoln Riley, but it’s probably going to take 5 years before we see it.
This idea that Napier was left with a bare cupboard and it takes a while to turn it around is an easy thought experiment to solve/ take last years offense with AR and make Deion/Heupel/Kiffen/Riley the coach and how many more wins do we have? This year? How many more wins AND how much more fun is it to watch?
I might be missing your point, but knowing what we know today, if we had a time machine, of course I would take us back in time and lead a coup to oust Stricklin and then hire Deion. 100 times out of 100.
The bare cupboard argument was the “go to” for Zook apologists back in the day. The only bare cupboard was in Zook’s head.
Why isn’t it fixed already? You can’t change a lack of discipline problem mid-season. It’s something that’s drilled into players during camps and off-season.
Smoke and mirrors? They beat an undefeated Michigan with the national title on the line, on top of running the table in the Big 12 regular season. Colorado won a game. One game.
The thing is, it's not just posters on this board who feel frustrations, I know many gator fans who are not on any Gator board who feel the same way. Like me, many had optimism coming into the season. Like me we just wanted to see improvement whether we won or lost. The type of mistakes seen on the field that involved coaching or the lack there of and repeated mistakes from a year ago was plain ugly. Talent wise we are equal or better than Utah. Utah's best players were not even playing. BN mentioned a few times crowd noises, heck their stadium is just a little bigger than Vanderbilt's. Have we not played in bigger places? I personally scoffed at sport writers who claimed uf would have a losing season or wouldn't even make a bowl game meaning we wouldn't even win 6 games. The trend of losing and the way in which we are losing is becoming hard to watch. The really sad thing is in year two I'm seeing real noise in the system that leads to that leads to that leads to that finally ends up...
And how did they do against UGA? Michigan is over rated every single year... they're practically in the Notre Dame realm of overrated status. put is another way we beat a better Utah team last year and when we play like that, as a team with few mistakes, we can beat the crap out of Colorado and TCU... this year. My O&B shades are beaming... Lol. And my Cool-aide is spiked. For me it's all about the next opponent.
One last thing on here and I will shut up. My hope is that BN will have the improvement he is looking for, minimal coaching mistakes, improvement across the board even if it doesn't translate into wins. I want our recruits to know that if they come to UF they will be coached right and they will help turn this ship around. I am hoping he will once the season is over make the needed changes as in hiring an OC and ST guy that will allow him to successfully manage the program. When BN succeeds so does the Gators.
