She played a stupid game and lost.

Simply showing her receipt and the items she bought and this would have been a none issue.

I see stupidity all around. Why was the deceased trying to escape? What exactly did she think she was going to accomplish? Why did the cop draw his gun? If he was concerned that the deceased was trying to maneuver the car, get out of way. We are talking about shoplifting here.

But the worst, but hardly surprising part, is how people can watch the same video and have completely different reactions. That’s where we are as a country.

 

No, for trying to injure two police officers.

There was zero reason for her not to comply.

Plus I have zero problems with the death penalty for thieves.

No question that she should have done what the police told her to do. But, again, what would have been so bad about stepping out of the way and going to pick her up later? Or, as futuregatormom suggested, shooting out her tires?

Her intent was to injure the officer, she drove at him. If he shot at the tire and it ricocheted and hit a bystander everyone would be howling. He did the right thing.

Absolutely believe it. I have had my home burglarized and two of my cars broken in to. Thieves should be dealt with maximum punishment.
It's a repetitive crime because we are too soft.

 

He was standing right in front of her, you can see his hand in the center of the hood. If she was trying to injure him, she would have driven straight and floored it. But she turned her wheel and went slowly. That’s why he wasnt run down.

 

What makes you think capital punishment for property crimes would solve the problem?

I think knowing you would get the death penalty for property theft would reduce property theft.

Very bad decisions on her part, but she was not trying to run them over.

 

Appears to be self defense. Trying to run run over a policeman has consequences.

He shouldn’t have stood in front of the car. Bad safety decision . If she stomps it, shooting her doesn’t stop the car. She was trying to move him vs acceleration.
Technically an aggravated battery, but……

In general, don’t shoot car.

 

Similarly, when people on message boards post really, really stupid things I wouldn’t lose a second of sleep if they were put down. I’m all about Old Testament like that.
