Blendon Township police release video in Ta'Kiya Young shooting that killed pregnant woman outside Ohio store | CNN

The video shows a Blendon Township police officer approaching Young’s driver’s side window outside a Kroger in Westerville and repeatedly telling her to get out of the car.

“They said you stole something….get out of the car,” the officer at the window says, telling Young not to leave.

“Get out of the f**king car,” the officer in front of the car repeats as the vehicle begins to move slowly forward, the video shows.

A few seconds elapse and then the officer standing in front of the hood fires through the windshield.

Another senseless shooting, why is it so hard for people to obey the law, nobody to blame but herself

What a dumb example from. Last time I checked they did. Can you show me any video of them not listening to the police, that would be a No

You said "obey the law", now it's "listen to the police?" But Okay, I'll play. How about all those times the authorities told Trump to give back the classified material he stole, and Dotard refused to comply with that lawful police order? As Jimmy Buffet would say, "it's his own damn fault".

I don’t think either side looks good here,

We're talking about police officers, quit trying to move the goal post. Just admit it, your example sucks

Really did you read the story she pushed the cop with her car, nobody to blame but herself.

He didn’t shoot her because of suspected shoplifting and you know that.

Your comment was about "obeying the law". If you already forgot what you posted, you can just scroll up and reread it. You are trying to change what you said after I smacked your own words back in your face.

He could have stepped out of the way. What was so important that he needed to stand there and fire?

Maybe he could have but that’s a different argument than saying he shot her for shoplifting. He shot her because she started driving towards him. If you think that was wrong then fine.

The reason not to let her leave was suspected shoplifting, right?

Yes, but that’s not the reason he shot her. Are you claiming he would have shot her even if she didn’t drive towards him?

Sad story. A young woman and fetus dead.

Sovereign immunity needs to be ended. The fetus should have a right to bring a lawsuit on the state for unreasonable actions. It’s unreasonable for a police officer to shoot in this situation and put an innocent bystander at risk.

I would advocate for police operated vehicular kill switches.

I wish the article said something about finding or not finding said shoplifted items in the car.

Of course not. But I think it does get down to the basic question: How important was it to not let her get away? Surely the police make judgments like that regularly. Do you risk a high speed chase through crowded streets for a murderer? Probably. Do you for a suspected shoplifter? I hope not.

Sure, a car can be a weapon. But she was driving slowly, so it's not as though he was in danger. Couldn't he have stepped to the side? They have her license plate. Go arrest her later.

While I think after everything that has transpired in situations like this, she should have complied, but there is no reason to shoot and kill anyone who isn't pointing a gun back at you. Shoplifting is not murder. Shoot out her tires or let her go and pick her up later.

A pregnant woman shot through a windshield by a cop? His life wasn’t in danger. He was mad she wouldn’t get out so he killed her.
