BN's zone-blocking running scheme, although very good, it's hard to learn and take a lot of practice time. Every minute spent on these is one less minute spent on pass blocking, and thst's why our pass blocking is sub-optimal and we can't recruit OTs very well, despite we have 2 OLCs. It's very bad fit for UF, bad fit for CFB in general
White is “retired” from playing football at this time. That is not invested in playing. Anywhere. Might be injury related - not sure, but he is not on any football roster and currently doesn’t plan to be. Not sure how you blame UFs coaching staff for not pushing White to stay. Wouldn’t have even mattered. My understanding on Tarquin - he was or is dating Tony Bosellis daughter who is now at USC. Boselli helped him behind the scenes to get an NIL deal at USC. Boselli is a USC alum and was on The staff of Tarquins high school team. Tarquin wanted to be at USC. So he took the deal to be with his girlfriend. in addition, he played second fiddle to Barber much of the time after Tarquin came back from injury. It was believed by some that The coaching staff wanted to give Waites a shot at RT (he played guard in bowl game but was playing back up tackle all season). So, between a girl, NIL, and maybe thinking the coaching staff may choose a player they brought vs him would they didn’t recruit, he left. so between White who quit football and Tarquin, who had reasons and wanted to leave, how did the coaches push them out?
What standards? We can’t get lined up. Play a crucial play with 8 players on the field. Put 2 players in the field with the same number at the same time.
Standard of accountability? Who is accountable for having two players with the same number on the field at the same time? In 40 years of football I’ve never seen that happen. Who is accountable for an Oline that still can’t stay set? One would think after 18 months of coaching that could get fixed. So far the process is moving us backwards game after game. That’s not a good trend.
I think Kelly is a better coach, he did a better job of filling holes. He has better players than at ND. He’s all around better at taking a broken team and having them play at a competitive level week in and out. Thus far he gets an A and Napier and Co get a C-. Yes next years class looks great, let’s see how it holds up if last night is a trend it likely will not.
Come on Napier had two classes now and with the portal it makes it easier to plug in players. Mac didn’t recruit well and Mullen crushed the wins and scoreboard until not unlike Meyer’s last year the wheels came off.
True. At thus far the results (as far as simple things) don’t give much confidence. We don’t need to have all 4/5* to stay set or get lined up. There isn’t much offensive flow and the calls seem to take forever to get into the field. Same as last year.
