I just heard about this last night- what is up with the clock not stopping when you run out of bounds now? That completely changes the game and makes comebacks MUCH harder. The falcons would have won a SB with these rules lol.

What has happened to the game I love?

I can think of a few things:
    NIL
    Transfer Portal
    Conference Realignment
    Greed
    Destruction of Traditions

    Immediately come to mind.

Shocking you would not think they wouldn't mess with the rules.

There will be more coming to satisfy tv money pigs.

Herbstreet and fowler at one point looked like they were reading a script when they praised the rule change. They said something like it was a rule everyone wanted to see to speed up the game.

To me, it looked like they didn't want to say that but were forced to. They didn't look like they believed that at all.

Their employer tells them what to say. Their employer is one of the big forces behind these rules changes.

I think the new clock rules are more in line with the NFL. I don't have a problem with it.

Horrible. Completely changes the strategy of the late game comebacks

One thing that I found perplexing was that the refs still delay the play until they are ready, but the play clock and game clock continue to run. This affected several plays and the rather plodding nature of our offense does not shape up well for this. Napier could have helped the team by calling more plays to the sideline in the 4th quarter, even with a score there probably wasn't enough time to score again to try and win the game.

Seems like they're putting more control in the hands of the refs.

    (...which is suspicious as hell).

Makes having a real 2 min offense very important. We showed last night we don’t have one. That needs to change.

Waiting until the season to implement something like that is a disastrous proposition.

If anything, it would be the opposite. Usually when I would record games, I record with an extra half hour and half the time I still don't even record the game. Last night was over in a pretty clean 3 hours.

Yes, they have been for a long while--or rather, the larger narrative has long been manipulated to remain within certain parameters. This seems calculated to help facilitate the orchestration of the theater, to hedge against organic developments that may be inconsistent with desired results which are intended to generate highest viewership ( and therefore more revenues).

TBL--the higher the level of sport, the more processed the product is, before being served up.

World Cup soccer reigns supreme as theater passing for sport... NFL not far behind... CFB been holding its own with the bigs for a while, but swiftly getting worse, and getting quite brazen about it.

If I weren't addicted, I'd tune the hell out.

But I guess we're all suckers for good theatre.

Well don't get yourself in the position to need a comeback and manage your timeouts better.

If College Football plays with NFL rules why is pass interference still not spotted where the infraction occurred? Why bring the ball back to the line of scrimmage and walk off fifteen yards? Makes no sense.

Since when is it an NFL rule that if you go out of bounds the clock keeps ticking? Am I retarded?

Maybe, but pretty sure the clock stops on out of bounds in the NFL.
