Since Napier is never going to replace himself as OC, can he at least fire the incompetent “game changer” coordinator?
The fact the University of Florida is rolling that QB out there is an issue. And I do understand our most recent history. But if we do have to settle for that, Etienne should have had 30 carries. Instead we are in this twilight zone where he has 7 carries for 25 or so. I dont get it. If you are throwing a slip screen 4th and 14 and pump fake direcly play side.....I dont get that either.
Some positive thoughts..Tre Wilson looked amazing and the kind of talent you need at the wideout spot. Actually, when we finally worked some plays to them the receivers performed well as a group and Caleb Douglas looks way better than last year and delivered when thrown to as well. A good 2nd half by the defense with only the one score on a short field after the TD. Some breakdowns still happening but they played well for most of the 2nd half. Not a fan of the late defensive play calls and guys looking over and not lining up quickly...that is going to be a big issue against hurry up offenses.
I don't want to throw him to the curve yet after one game. He needs to give up his play calling duties and hire a really good ST coach.
And why did we not at last fake a 8 man blitz late in the forth quarter with their NON-passing QB (Johnson) and their running QB on the field? What is that young DC thinking at that point in time... We needed a sack... and we needed to stack the line with 8 men to stop their QB, and to STUFF a possible run-blitz!!!!!
Last drive ... 33 yards in 4 minutes and 1 second Let that sink in Is everyone having fun watching this O? Go to 1 OL coach and hire a dynamic OC
Defense looked fine. A few breakdowns that lead to scores, but they are never going to play perfect. A bunch of young guys out there. Mertz looked fine. OL and TE blocking leaves alot to be desired. Penalties killed the team. They could have won this game. Would like to go fast. Can we go fast please.
I have to take a little exception to the "good CEO" talk. One sign of a bad manager is throwing a bunch of people at a project and thinking that will solve problems. I know this will give me bacon, but just an observation.
This team will win 7 games this year and where we are talent wise and with this schedule that is pretty good. I see improvement, and while we have better talent on defense we are not quick enough on the dline. The coaching staff needs to grow up this year.
I’d like to see Spurrier brought in this week as our offensive coordinator. That way we’d have a shot at a winning season. Otherwise, we’re 4-8 this year.
No it was much worse…the short call had a reasonable shot…the long call was like no FN way! Like 1% conversion
