HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) — An Alabama legislator was arrested Tuesday on felony voter fraud charges accusing him of voting in a district where he did not live. Republican Rep. David Cole of Huntsville was arrested on charges of voting in an unauthorized location, according to Madison County Jail records. The details of the charge were not immediately available in court records, but the arrest comes after accusations that Cole did not live in the district in which he was elected. Cole, a doctor and Army veteran, was elected to the House of Representatives last year. Voter fraud is a Class C felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison. The Alabama attorney general’s office is prosecuting the case against Cole, a spokeswoman confirmed. Alabama lawmaker arrested on voter fraud charge
His vote was most likely the result of an unintentional error and the guy should not be prosecuted. That being said unintentional error did not prevent the prosecution of the legal immigrant in Texas who incorrectly thought that her green card gave her the right to vote or the Black woman in Tennessee who was actually advised her county voter registrar that her right to vote had been restored after she lost it following a felony conviction. Fortunately for the Tennessee woman her conviction of voter fraud was later reversed and the state decided not prosecute her a second time although she should have never been prosecuted in the first place. Oh look... they caught one dumb-azz voter cheating. Lol... I'm sure that will change the outcome of the vote.
Agreed. They totally bought into the "the libs" are cheating and passed laws to make casting a single vote a felony if you do it at the wrong precinct, not thinking they'd only be catching their own, mostly...
Comparing Pub anecdotes to democrat instigated, massive, institutionalized voter fraud is something only a school kid would believe to be equal in scope and scale.
More importantly I think: (1) Many Republicans demonized mail-in ballots as being unsecure and unreliable and have since been working to make sure Republican voters feel comfortable using it; and (2) Telling people that elections are rigged isn't the best way to get them to turn out the vote, particularly in mid terms or special elections when voters are less motivated. Another example of Trump putting himself before not only the country but his own party.
Except that (democrat instigated, massive, institutionalized voter fraud) is a figment of your hyper active imagination. Correct. Trump still lost the 2020 election in a LANDSLIDE.
