The braindead idea that anyone, particularly me, wants to see Trask fail at the expense of my favorite NFL team because I went to FSU. I don't care where he went to college. If a starting 22 of Gators won the Super Bowl I could not or would not care any less.

It's funny, I am having literally this same debate on Warchant about Winston. He's most definitely not that guy. I wanted him to be. He wasn't. I am glad he's gone. I was ecstatic the Bucs got Brady and won a Super Bowl.

Homeboard'r is a bit of a pejorative but by all means wear it proudly.

He will definitely get a chance. Again, read my posts. I am not saying he sucks. I am not saying he doesn't deserve a shot. I am not saying Mayfield is better. I am saying that they need to tank this season and draft Caleb Williams or Drake Maye.

The Glazers aren't the best owners in the league. They make me want to smash my head into my TV with some of the stuff they've done. Firing Gruden? Okay, I wouldn't have but whatever... replace him with Raheem Morris? Replace Morris with Greg Schiano? Replace Schiano with Lovie Smith? Replace Lovie Smith with Dirk Koetter? Finally got it right with Arians. Brady or whatever ran him off. Todd Bowles? Yikes.

They're going to be awful. They need to clean house. Not sure about the GM as he hasn't been terrible. They easily could've gone back to back had the aforementioned Todd Bowles not put a free safety one on one with arguably the best WR in the NFL when the Rams appeared more than willing to take a knee and go to OT.

Braindead? Is that what it is? smh

Regardless, I disagree with your statement. Plenty of UF fans irrationally hate on FSU players in the NFL and vice-versa. It's not strange to for fans of pro teams to still hold biases against players who went to their college's rival school.

Yes, yes it is. LOL. I'd argue they're not 'fans' of that pro team if that's the case.

A small percentage of weirdos? Sure. The vast majority of fans of any team don't care.

I wanted Vernon Hargreaves III to be the next Deion Sanders. He wasn't. Oh well. Next man up. Did a few loser homeboard'rs revel in it? Probably. Did most FSU/Bucs fans? No.

I agree with the nole (yuck)

    But Trask should start

The only reason you do not go for Williams or Maye is if you find a QB. Mayfield is not that. Trask probably isn’t but there is a chance. That chance is why he should be starting.

Then factor in at some point you have to determine if Trask is worth a second contract in any form.

    He clearly should be starting.

The reason he is not is Bowles is looking ultra short term with the focus on saving his job

What's irrational about it? They are FSU players, correct?

You are welcome for my illustration of your point.

Trask will get a shot. He will play and start some games this season I have no doubt. Unless he is the second coming of Tom Brady and they make some kind of miraculous run in the playoffs they're going to blow this thing up and start over which is the right move IMO. They had their window. They won a Super Bowl which is more than a lot of teams can say. It's just not the right place or time for either party and that's okay. If Trask balls out enough this season he can maybe get a starting gig or an opportunity to compete for one with a franchise that is in a much better position to compete next season that might be moving on from their current guy or wants to give him some competition. Think maybe someplace like Denver or Seattle or Las Vegas or New England.

The current regime is likely in full self preservation mode. They want to win and be competitive in as many games as possible. You know what you've got with Baker. He's a pretty seasoned vet. Started several seasons. Hell, he almost took the Browns to the Super Bowl in 2020 IIRC (or was it 2019?). They had the Chiefs on the ropes at Arrowhead and blew it letting someone (Chad Henne?) scramble for a first down on like 3rd and 10. They want to win as many games as possible and playing the vet may do that, it may not as well. It is likely the best percentage move which is why they're doing it. The moment Baker is ineffective they'll give Trask the keys. They see him in practice every day though. They know what they have on their hands. If he were THAT much better than Mayfield he'd be starting. They think he isn't. Maybe he's a gamer and when the lights come on it's a different ballgame. You can see it in college. Not really that common in the NFL with the high level of play.

Plenty of us Gators, including me, think Trask should start. "The Nole" isn't saying anything new in that respect.

I don't believe you illustrated my point.

That's fine to make that argument, but it's not the argument we were having.

Speaking about your crush, Deion…he doesn’t identify as a Nole anymore.

Nick foles? Joe Flacco? Stafford could sling it but was a turnover machine most of his career.

I could actually care less what any owner in the Anthem Kneelers League does, or how their teams do. I do care how Kyle does in his career and in life.

From my point of view, he gets hurt extending plays when he should protect himself better. He’s small and fragile and needs to have more awareness of that. Sometimes getting sacked can’t be prevented but he’s not good at getting rid of the ball before he gets in trouble. He leaves the pocket instead of throwing it away.

Not really. That HBCU degree he got is an online degree for busy professionals so I’m sure he didn’t do much.

I took @dave_the_thinker 's post as tongue-in-cheek, as in admitting their own irrationality.
