First of all, I am not sure if this is the right forum for this, so if it isn't, moderators please advise what forum you move it to. So, first time in the Swamp since 2006, will be there Sep 16th for the UT game. Staying in a hotel at Waldo, because that is the best I could get 6 weeks ago. First mistake, I know.... Here's where I need your advice: Where to park (one vehicle only, and would prefer to walk not more than 1/2 mile if at all possible), how early to get there, places to have a late lunch, etc. Thanks in advance for your advice.
I would take Waldo Rd to NE 8th Ave the light where the high school stadium is and turn right. Follow this to NW 22nd St and turn left the further you drive the more it will cost $30ish. You can find parking less than 3 blocks to Univ. Ave and the stadium is across the street. You are a couple of blocks to bars. If you want Spurrier’s and archer road places disregard the above.
I go to spurriers before the game but you won’t get reservations at this point. Mostly I go there because it’s off campus and it’s difficult to get in anywhere around the game. If I’m hungry in the afternoon , I usually jut hit the food trucks. If you want a restaurant, I’d go somewhere off campus beforehand. I park at a parking garage for free and walk about a mile. I’ve heard other park at Oaks mall and take a bus for $10. Many just pay 20-50 to park anywhere a car will fit.
They have the park and ride at celebration point now too, so you could leave your car at Spurriers and get hauled back and fourth from there.
I have minimal issues getting in and out of campus, and would prefer something else to eat, but it’s not a terrible option for out of towners.
Yeah I only get into town a couple times a year now and much has changed. Still, last thing I want to be doing on game day is driving around campus. Unless of course I can get my hands on that cloaking device
With that much traffic, everyone is going to have some issues, but there’s definitely ways to do it where you can get moving fairly quickly. There’s also ways to do it where you sit motionless for an hour. Being local, you learn some tricks. I’ve only been back a few years, but most of my childhood tricks still work well, even with all the changes.
It’s been awhile since I’ve been to a game and looking forward to heading up for this one. Used to park on the grass on campus by Yulee/Mallory Hall and tailgated there. Also have done the law school thing. I’m dating myself, but I’m thinking that’s no longer an option. Am I right?
Can't park in grass...pick me up and you can park in my reserve space..people tailgate there..parking garage, so if it rains..you stay dry lol
Hanging out with management at Spurriers last month they said the waitlist was 16k long for the season. So yeah probably not going to get a reservation at this point in time
I e been before without a reservation, Utah last year, and got in the list and got a table. Lucky but I just sat at the bar till then
