I get it. You have no clue why a group of teachers would try to "convince" a child that he or she is transgender. But you slander them anyway by calling them "sick".

That said, the real issue here is that the parents should have been involved in this decision.

 

You realize that you don't have a clue what they actually did, right?

 

And an investigation found that the teachers did not encourage the kid to be transgender, contrary to what the parents claim in a lawsuit ... hence, you have no idea what really happened....

The fact that parents made all these claims, which could be worth millions if true, and then agreed to settle for $100K tells me something.

I never said it should be available to parents publicly. My kids are on camera in every store they go into.

 

Agree. Also, people change their behavior when they know there’s a camera recording their every move and comment, and not always for the better. Introverts or students with low self esteem have enough problems participating in discussions. In class cameras would likely shut them down even more.

 

Also, I have been in classrooms where photos of a certain child or children were not allowed. Was never told why - just assumed it was a custody thing.

 

Parents have to give permission to allow their children’s photograph to be used on websites, etc. I have had one student in my career whose mother would not allow her picture to be used for anything.

 

A store is not a school as there are laws such as FERPA to protect children. To whom would you make this available? Parents? Admin?

Is it your contention that teachers should be filmed doing their job every second?

 

Probably for less than their legal fees would have been if they fought it. I'd say they won.

 

1. We have cameras all over schools.
2. Why cant teachers be on camera? Many professions exist completely on camera.
3. Why does it have to be a negative? My assumption is it would protect a pot of teachers.

 

But it would be an internal thing. Just like the surveillance in my building. No other parents or students would have access without some sort of warrant. But the existence of ot provides accountability and could be very helpful in an emergency.

 

1. Cameras are in hallways for security
2. Teachers aren’t TV stars and they don’t stay in one place.
3. Nobody wants their every utterance to be recorded, especially in this environment. Remember, I live at ground zero for Moms for Liberty.

 

Would you want to have a camera on you at work all day, possibly subject to FOIA requests so anyone can see it, edit it, post it online, use it to sue for any reason they see fit, etc ...

 

All kinds of employees in all kinds of professions are on camera... Mostly none audible btw.

 

Part of my job is overseeing a large retail component. All on camera, all day. My office is not but certain staff members certainly are. Its pretty normal for public businesses.
