Someone that played in these these high altitude stadiums said that you go and play that same or next day, becasue if you were to try and acclimate it would take you 10 days or so... However, there's a very slight level of discomfort/adjustment that most players should be able to get though.

That is what I have read. You are not going to acclimate in a day or two, and that the advantage of being acclimated is minimal.

I bet a lot of teams that have lost there used it as an excuse.

I don't know where you were in Utah, but unless you were at an altitude greater that 7,000 feet you should see a cardiologist. Seriously.

Good advice although it hits people diffently. I know a guy who moved to North Carolina and the whole time he was there he had headaches and claimed it was thin air and I didn’t doubt him.

I’ve made a couple of trail running trips to the Breckenridge area (9k+ feet, running up to 12k) after training in St Louis (500-1k), and it was definitely hard the first couple of days, but I never got altitude sickness and could run just fine. The best training you can do for the thin air if you are at sea level is to train in humidity—Gainesville has that covered, lol. Plus, these are elite athletes competing 5-8 second bursts with ample recovery time. They aren’t running marathons.

I would bet our staff has pushed extra hard with the first game in mind. If we're not in top condition and show it I'll be surprised and disappointed. Practice clips look stout but are we ready to impose our will on enemy territory?

I don't want to get this thread OT . . . but when I moved to those same mountains in East Tennessee, from Memphis, at 30 YOA, for the first time in my life I had sinus headaches. I never considered it could be due to elevation too. Hmmmmm.

Back to the Utah elevation . . . everyone remember Denver is higher and NFL teams go there. Coach Napier wasn't worried about the altitude in his PC. He has a (detailed) plan. He was much more concerned about a very well-coached team.

We used to go skiing in Utah and Colorado, never had an issue with altitude.

Well except for that one time when we had a couple of beers when first getting there which gave me the worst headache ever.

I live in Los Angeles and go skiing up in Mammoth (the Eastern Sierras). Where I live in LA, it's 400 ft elevation. The town of Mammoth is around 8,000ft. The top is 11,053. Most of the mountain is in the 9,000 to 10,000 ft range. That takes a minute to get acclimated. But 4000 ft is not a huge deal. Probably about the same challenge that the heat was for them in the Swamp. Noticeable, but not dying and gasping. FWIW! Then again, I'm 155 lbs, not 325lbs!

I would have stopped in Denver for the layover. But as folks have mentioned, the NFL plays at mile high regularly-not a huge deal.

    Go Gators- beat the UTES!

Haters and attention seekers do what haters and attention seekers do. He's done nothing but trash UF since someone was foolish enough to put him on the air. And when it comes to RH ever having a clue...perhaps he should buy a vowel or something.

Josh Pate picked UF to "crawl to a victory over broken glass somehow" or some such thing. Based on Cam Rising not playing. If he does he likes Utah. He suggested a UF loss would be very bad news indeed for CBN.

FYI - Just reporting, not agreeing with anything he says.

W or L I'm 100% on board the CBN rebuild.

I've had serious headaches skiing at Breckinridge. But, Salt Lake City is at a much lower altitude than that. Hydration is the key.
