it appears that things are getting more heated as the conservative chief justice tries to hang onto a power structure that the new majority of the court just voted to dismantle

Wisconsin Supreme Court chief justice accuses liberal majority of staging a 'coup' (msn.com)

The conservative chief justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court on Monday told the new liberal majority in a scathing email that they had staged a “coup” and conducted an “illegal experiment” when they voted to weaken her powers and fire the director of state courts.

Chief Justice Annette Ziegler, in two emails obtained by The Associated Press, said that firing and hiring a new state court director was illegal and ordered interim state court director Audrey Skwierawski to stop signing orders without her knowledge or approval.

    .............
On Monday, Ziegler sent Skwierawski, the court director, an email telling her to stop signing orders under her name. “It has come to my attention that you have been signing my reserve judge orders without my knowledge or approval,” Ziegler wrote in the email. “You never asked me for permission. You do not have my permission. Stop. These orders are in my name. You have no lawful authority to sign them. If you have signed anything else under my name, please advise immediately.”

Skwierawski responded to Ziegler, in another email obtained by AP, saying she “vehemently” disagreed that her appointment was illegal. She also defended her action signing orders assigning reserve judges, saying state law clearly gives her that authority. “I had the legal authority and responsibility as well as the moral obligation to sign the orders for reserve judges,” she told Ziegler.

The people took control away from the Republicans in robes, so they are now throwing a hissy fit over it.

that chief justice sounds like a real piece of work. having a meltdown that the majority voted to remove some of her powers that were granted by the previous majority. scary that we have people like her in such positions of power

Ziegler is not even the worst of them, which is saying something. Rebecca Bradley is. Complete loon (and a hypocrite).

Some additional context I just found out. The only reason Ziegler got to be the chief is because the Republican-controlled legislature put up an amendment up for vote back in 2015 that subjected the chief justice position to a majority vote of the court, rather than granting it to the most senior member. They did it to take the chief title away from a long-serving liberal.

The Republicans on the court immediately voted in one of their own after that amendment. Karma is a bitch.

I like that Trump made some peace treaty deals in the WH between Israel and middle east nations. He got 500K manufacturing jobs back to American workers... Low inflation... energy independence, from foreign countries. His policies brought about the best unemployment numbers in all demographics save the woman that helped to built the WWII arsenal of defense.

We we're exporting war and munitions of war like we are right now. Trump even had North Korea cut down with their missile launches, especially ones over Japan and into the Pacific Ocean.

The low wage earners had the biggest increase in pay overall... that was unusual.

Life was beginning to feel good for me again when Trump was our Commander-in-chief.

This might be easier... Name one good thing that Biden has done that you like.

Oh, you mean Ziegler? I'm sure that's coming. I imagine they didn't want to do that right off the bat for optics purposes.

Does putting 13m people back to work in 2.5 years count?

I think you think I'm a big Biden fan. I am not. Voted for him and will vote for him again. Think he's done mostly a decent job and has shown an ideological dexterity that surprised me a bit, but most of all he gets big kudos from me for not being an insane narcissistic & congenital con man. Then again, after Trump, the bar is indistinguishable from the floor.

Not really... remember covid killed millions of jobs, so Biden has NOT gotten back to pre-covid employment numbers. Not to the employment numbers that Trump had pre-covid. You cannot extrapolate the unemployment numbers and make a determination of total employment numbers. IOW, Trumps total EMPLOYMENT numbers are far more than what we have right now.

I don't care if Trump acts like a movie star, or a politician... they're all narcissists.
