WR play will determine how good we are. If they get open, Mertz will get it to them because the Oline will be fine and RBs will take a lot of heat off. Safety and Star play will determine the Defense. A freshman starting at safety is worrisome.
The OL is very young. Kamari Wilson is not a starter? Both RB’s are in the KOR rotation?? LB is still a big concern, imho.
Outside sources were right about Castell and Livingston. Not understanding how Jack Miller appears to be QB #2. Jackson at WR is a surprise though. Scooby Williams is playing multiple positions apparently.
Harris looks like the first lineman in in multiple positions and our young receivers are all down the list.
Just alot of questions at this point, much will be answered in a few days. Is the OL any good, or was the whole thing a domino effect from an all-american guard? Will any of the true freshman WRs have a real impact? Why can't we recruit TEs? We have a 3 star OL penciled in as a starter. Will princely take the crown of the next dominant Florida edge rusher? Can Scooby-Doo Williams be named the starter at 3 linebacker positions? Will we finally have stability at the S position?
Andy Jean 3rd on the the depth chart, interesting. I was hoping he will be in top 2 and eventually takes over a starting spot this year.
Sometimes these things mean nothing. Let’s see how snaps play out. Castell - Major surprise T. Mitchell not starting- major surprise A. Jean- huge surprise. Thought for sure top 4-5 guy. Livingston- is a real threat. Let’s hope we truly throw him the ball. McClellan and Egukan- would be major loss if they don’t play. McClellan would be surprise as no earlier reports on this. Moten not starting is a huge surprise. Kimber over Moore not a surprise as Moore has not been healthy.
A lot of us buy into the spring/summer hype machine about the young players and then are shocked when they are third string. I wonder if this is deliberate to give some players hope ... so they don't transfer. Castell is the biggest surprise for me. We didn't hear much about him all summer. Two more days.
Amen to that. If you look at Georgia, I think you can attribute a lot of their game breakaway ability to the Gronk-style TEs that they pick up on a routine basis now. TE's can't just be used as a 5th blocking lineman today if you want to compete with the elite teams.
