Funny all these people holding Meyer up to Spurrier’s standard — as I recall SOS abruptly left us in the lurch, and 3 years later took a head coaching job at one of our SEC-East rivals. And then after accomplishing unprecedented things there, abruptly left them in the lurch.

At least Meyer went to coach a school not in the SEC

I know Urbs is no saint, but nobody’s perfect - not even Steve Spurrier

I’m down with the middle finger to the rest of the buttheads in this conference! And bring back Charley Pell too. Good man - just got destroyed by aforementioned buttheads for doing the same damn thing Bryant, Dooley, Hayes, Schembechler, McKay, and a shitload of other guys were doing.

Dude, we’re aligned. I knew we could find common ground on this!

Yes, he left without much notice probably because of issues with Foley and also to scratch the NFL itch. Foley screwed the pooch when he wanted Spurrier to interview to come back to Florida so he went to USCe (at least how I remember it from back in the day). He also stayed at USCe for 10 years which is no short gig.

I don't think you compare the character of Steve to Urban, not in the same ballpark.

I’m not against win at all costs, integrity would just be a cherry on top . In my opinion, Sourrier had plausible deniability but you know damn well those boys were taken care of. If Fred got 50k from Georgia, what did he get from us. We just couldn’t allow a parking lot of Chargers without getting sanctioned.

Urbs is not in the realm of Spurrier. Our admi at UF I think might be a pain in the ass. Maybe why both left.

I’m only responding to people who are doing exactly that - comparing the character of Urban Meyer to that of Steve Spurrier. I’m just turning that around on them. Even our beloved SOS up & took his ball and walked out on us once. This we know - the why he left and why he went to USCe is mostly hearsay. I’ve also heard he was fed up with Gator fans who became spoiled and unappreciative.

Of course Spurrier lives to a higher standard than Urbs, but I don’t see “must live your life like Steve Spurrier” in the ROH criteria

It's not an off season topic without mention of the "interview" story, which originated right here on this forum :D

I definitely wasn't a fan of Spurrier going to USCe so soon, but I wouldn't say he "left them in the lurch". He was what, 70 years old? It's not like him stepping down was unexpected. As for Meyer, there's a quote of his that I really wish I could find -- essentially it was: "it would be a travesty if I said I got the feeling back, and threw on some other teams colors and started coaching for them" (if you know this exact quote please let me know!).

I will say this, Swamp Kings definitely painted Urban out as a sympathetic figure but the guy obviously has some huge character flaws and integrity issues.

Yep, no Wes Chandler, no Percy , no Fred Taylor. Urbs did win two tittles and in thankful for that. I just don’t really like him and that’s fine. He won and that’s what’s important

Maybe go to Alligator Alley. Or subscribe to the UF Track/ Cross-Country facebook feed.
Parker Valby is a beast. She's so competitive. She goes out really hard and then tries to hang on.
She led the NCAA field for most of the 6K race before finally succumbing to the pain and getting 2nd.
In the SEC race she hammered the previous SEC champ from Alabama and destroyed the field.
Pure guts. Frankly if our football team had her courage they would have been 10-2 at worse last year.

    Here's her bio.
Parker Valby - Track and Field - Florida Gators

And her picture. Not that I've noticed, but she is easy on the eyes.
Though it's her running that I really admire.

Meyer is no dirt bag because he got caught with some chick rubbing up against him. Do you know how many guys do the same, and way worse? Come on.

His wife hasn't left him. Maybe she knows something you don't

You are only mad because he left. I'm pretty sure you didn't complain about his program when he was winning games.
