What I want to believe is that this team is much better prepared to play Billyball than last year. That goes a LONG ways, especially adding WR speed and better LB and safety players (albeit less experienced). Passing has to be more "gotcha" slants and some long ones to prevent their defense from playing the run too tight. If Mertz is up to the task then the running game should work really well. TOP time.

Unless we are receiving a bunch of smoke, their offense is wounded. Unless we overplay the run and keep our defense on the field too long, I don't think they can score points and play the long game and let the thin air take over. And so...

If Mertz is up to the task, we win 30-10. If he is limited with his passes (especially interceptions), then it should be a close one. 13-10. Can't say who is who.

 

I hope our players have that same attitude. Losers have losing attitudes.

I am more concerned about altitude than attitude. I think Utah wears us down with the run game and takes it 27-17.
I hope to be wrong.

 

It could happen but I’m more worried about our oline, our defense and our qb. Plenty of teams beat the Broncos every year and the biggest factor is being the better team.

Utah is the better team? In what metric are you using to figure that to be true? Stars? Top 300 players? Recruiting rankings? Or is it based on something more convoluted like conference predictions?

Is “optimistic “ even a coherent response to “ get a better outlook?

Last year was like Richardaon 1st ever start (maybe second due to replacing an injured starter) this will be Mertz's 33rd start at a power 5 team.

 

We don’t know what offense he’s trying to takeover nor how good he will be. There’s almost a brand new line and everything starts there. I have no expectations but I can’t wait to seee the first drive. I hope it looks promising.
