Why would he be in bad standing with UF? It’s only some of us fans who have our panties in a bunch over how he left. We can all be pretty sure he wouldn’t have been here in 2010 if Foley hadn’t begged him to stay. I am now convinced he wasn’t faking his health concerns that led him to retire after the 2009 SECCG.

 

Maybe he told Foley to suck it, I have no idea. Half the fans still don’t like him and I don’t either but we don’t actually have a say so. The Ring is very limited and he’s no Spurrier.He’s kind of a dirtbag really. Sure, he’s a great coach. If it’s just winning games, he’s in for sure. If class is necessary, not a chance. He’s right there with Bowden in my book and Bowden didn’t get public lapdances.

 

Far be it from me to pass judgement on a married guy bumping with a hot chick at a bar. Dumb for getting caught at it, but if they didn’t go upstairs or leave together then it’s all pretty benign. It wasn’t even a titty bar — I’ve taken many a married customer to worse places. Sure doesn’t make him a “dirtbag”

 

Sorry but I make judgements without the facts. He would do her if he didn’t get caught. Maybe he did, maybe he didn’t.

 

I think he’s in good standing. He’s welcomed on campus and has insider access to the facilities from what I can see.

 

Come on man. Hate him if you must, but don’t accuse him of things that don’t exist

 

I saw what he did on camera in public. I’ve heard the rumors. I make judgements on people in real life” my gut tells me” and my gut has been pretty accurate for 55 years. I wouldn’t trust the guy. If you trust him, good for you. I think he lacks integrity.

 

I think he lacks integrity too at times. I think he has displayed very poor judgement. Trust? Depends, but I don’t trust many people anyway and none of that makes him a “dirtbag”.

I’m not sure I’d trust Woody Hayes or Bear Bryant either.

Let’s be honest - if he hadn’t left UF the way he did neither you nor I would give a crap about a paparazzi snapshot of Urbs in a Cincinnati bar. We’re way too quick to judge other people without walking in their shoes. I don’t think Urban Meyer is a bad person. There are plenty of those out there — like Jane Fonda for openers. Plenty of others.

 

If it were Bama ring he belongs in no doubt. I think our Ring is strong on integrity until he gets in. After he is in, that’s out the door. The criteria was made in my mind for Spurrier as it was long after he set the example. I’d be shocked if Spurrier was getting a lap dance in public. He’s just a better person. We are lowering the honor part if he gets in. Swamp Kings didn’t feature any of tge many players he referred to as shit, those guys that ended up fighting the upperclassmen and the entire freshmen class walking out may tell a different story. I think there’s good reason tgat only the “superstars” were featured. He doesn’t last long anywhere because he can’t keep a team together.

 

he deegrates UF with his "broken program" BS after he left and after he broke it. He also placed the program behind other priorites such as letting Daz audition for the HC job after 2010.

Had to go back and watch the game (no huddle version) and pay attention to #42 Billy Latsko.

He indeed abused James Laryngitis all night. Same way Stephen Harris abused their center Datish in the second half driving him back 5 yards every snap. Those two guys must be in weekly therapy for such traumatic abuse at the hands of our D. Talk about getting pwned.

 

I loved every minute of Urbs time here but I’m not going to support a statue right beside Spurrier. Urbs just isn’t that guy to be proud of. Great coach for winning games, not a gator hero to me. There’s baggage.

 

All these people complaining about Urban would be first on the bandwagon if he wanted to return to UF if Napier turns in a 5 win season. Coaching is tough...he made some mistakes as we all have...but he did bring two titles home and made us the most feared team in college football for some time. From what I saw of him in Swamp Kings Im not sure a guy driven like him can ever be just an announcer. Wherever he goes I wouldn't doubt he would bring in players from 2006-2009 to be coaches for that school. Spikes, James, Percy Tebow, Pounceys....those guys knew what it took and had the drive to be great. If its UF down the road...Im OK with it.

 

He can win games there’s no doubt.Kirby’s a big douche but Georgia fans are fine with him. Winning cures all.

 

I can’t argue with any of this. No question Steve Spurrier lives by a higher standard. And no doubt Urban has never stayed anywhere longer than the 6 years he spent with us.

I still think his commitment to UF during 5 of those years, his performance on the job, plus the 3 trophies he brought to UF during 3 of those years, are outstanding enough accomplishments to warrant his induction into the ROH.

I doubt that most of the people passing judgement on him have any idea what that job requires out of a person, or the stress and sacrifice he endured during those years in Gainesville. Thank you Urban Meyer for the memories. All of them. I’d have that glory for UF again in a second.

I don’t hate tge guy or anything and if he gets in it’s fine with me. But if you ask me” which one of these is different than the other” it’s an easy choice.Jack and Wilber I don’t know much about really as far as who they are as a person. The rest seem to be choirboys for tge most part. I’d go for tge lapdances but Spurrier and Tebow not so much.

 

Florida has always put out than holier than thou image so stand with it or don’t. That’s really why they hate us.Nothing wrong with a script club but if ya gonna go , don’t knock it.

 

You make a good point. What has this “holier than thou” BS ever gotten us besides a bunch of hate? That uppity attitude is one big reason I can’t stand Michigan and Notre Dame. So screw that and let’s celebrate 2 national championships and the man who brung them to us.
