Who gives a crap about an “if” that didn’t happen? I’m honestly amazed this pro-Gator documentary came out right before the season. If they’d published a special documenting Georgia’s glory days in late August I’d be pissed and suspect conspiracy. This was a freakin gift!

The players are juiced even more because of it. So are the recruits. Gator football was made relevant again right before season kickoff. Meyer looked like a hero - and as much as we don’t like how he left, he was a hero. Still is.

Now is not the time to distance ourselves from those glory days, the 2 NCs, and Urban Meyer. Carpe diem- seize the day. Give recruiting a shot in the arm. Let’s run with this momentum and embrace the man who made it possible at significant cost to his health. It’s appropriate. It’s free marketing and we should be pouring fuel on the fire. Induct Meyer into the ROH and make a big deal out of it.

    Go Gators

We’ve had many threads on it, I just don’t see what inducting him now does. Let him be retired for some years. Give all the spotlight to Napier

So……sweep reality under the rug bc Netflix gave Meyer a positive spin?
Also, recruiting got a “shot in the arm” when Napier showed up. Looks like he’s doing well, to me.
I don’t think UF should compromise the integrity of the highest honor this university can bestow upon an athlete, or coach.

Not really. Seems like just another headline for Napier to deal with.

I’m just not that influenced by how a movie is made , good or bad. The movie although I thoroughly enjoyed it and it got me pumped, does not really influence what I already knew. Painting a picture one way or another makes no difference to me. We know the facts and I’m glad the documentary focused on positives.

It would have been a lot easier on both of us if you’d have just responded yes or no

    Oh good grief
Sweep what under the rug? As long as stuff continues to go down in Athens, Tallahassee, State College, and God knows how much has been covered up in Tuscaloosa, I flatly refuse to feel guilty or ashamed for anything that I have heard of that the kids playing football for the University of Florida did while they were there.

If you feel determined to drag up negativity about our program right now less than a week before kickoff, please don’t sit anywhere near me in The Swamp

It opened my eyes a lot. I’ll be the first to say there’s no such thing as “reality TV” and I disrespect the media on several levels. But watching and especially listening to the many interviews with Meyer and his players really did open my mind to the stress and pressure, so much self-imposed, that Meyer was under making those national championships happen.

Especially given the distractions from his own players, and the over-the-top nastiness from fans, players, and coaches of our ‘fellow SEC’ teams. This conference can kiss my ass

Wow. I suspect your creativity index is on the low side — either that or I spent too much time in marketing. We could really run with this if we chose to

Meyer certainly was a hero. It was Urban or bust in 2005 and we were fortunate the way things worked out. I don't agree, though, that he still is and that sentiment has more to do than the way he left. One can embrace the 05-2010 years while harboring different feelings about the RoH. Embrace the success sure embrace Meyer too. RoH?

When did I “drag up negativity about our program “? Lmao skink…..See. Post. #22.
I probably have agreed, or responded favorably, to 98% of anything you’ve ever posted on GC. And I’ve been around since approx Feb. 2014 (I used to be “Persuader”, prior to “Tripsright”). My opinion on Meyer in the UF Ring of Honor, though clearly not a rubber stamp endorsement, is far from overly critical of the man, or his leadership of the football program. I’m proud of what those Gators accomplished. I think much of what we were criticized for was media sensationalism at its finest. If UF ever votes to include him in the ROH, as I stated before, I would not begrudge the decision. I just think, in general, Meyer diminishes the core values of the honor. Whether fair, or not. That would be the outsiders’ general perception.
    It’s just an opinion.
See how you can disagree, diplomatically? Give it a try sometime.
