My worry is our depth chart. I think Slaughter can step in for Kingsley hopefully but we don’t know that for sure. Surprised not more on here about our injuries to starters like Kingsley and Shemar.
If he starts, he’s playing unless injuries take him out. He won’t be medically cleared for just a few plays.
Cam Rising has not learned his status for Utah’s season opener with that Week 1 contest against Florida coming up in a little over a week. On Thursday, Rising addressed where he is at with his rehab from injury and his focus on preparation. According to Rising, he’s doing his best to get out there and wants to play but knows he has to listen to Utah’s training staff: “Just ready to find out what happens, that’s really all I’m focused on,” said Rising during an interview with Billy Riley for ESPN700. “I want to make sure I’m out there but kind of just have to listen to the people that are getting paid the big bucks for this.” Rising also reiterated he has no idea if he will or will not be cleared for Week 1. The final decision from head coach Kyle Whittingham could come all the way down to the wire on game day per Rising:\\Cam Rising previews season opener vs. Florida, chances of playing in Week 1 - Saturday Out West
Ok. Edit: No one said he was medically cleared. He's listed as the starter on their depth chart and that is all the insight any of us have. He's listed as the starter, he "could" take the opening snap, hand it off to the rb and then head to the bench. Likely he is just listed as the starter for no other reason than gamesmanship and their third string qb is the actual starter.
Not even sure if this is still legal. BYU used to let big guys go on their two year mission run before enrolling. So their true freshmen would be twenty.
If this were the sec championship, I’d have to consider starting a player. Utah could lose this game and still go 11-1 and win their conference. There’s just not enough on the line if he was my son to risk an nfl future if he was my kid or player. It sucks not to play but I’d say live to fight another day if there’s significant risk involved.
Yup, it's not even a conference game. I would be surprised if he plays despite what the depth chart says.
As a program they seem bent on revenge after last year's game. Especially Rising for his last minute interception.
Oh, they want our ass no doubt but getting their qb hurt if he can’t move still may not be in their best interest. If they leave the decision up to a player, the player will play if he has heart.
Highly ranked out of high school (last year), but obviously not ideal for them against a team with some talent on the edge in week 1.
If their message boards are any indication of how the players/coaches feel? I’d say @eastowest is spot on.
