very few people still drink Bud Light. Can you imagine if the Democrats get their way and somehow get people to only have two beers a week? Bud Light is done. They can’t afford their 83 patrons to cut back like that. I realize these are merely recommendations, but does anybody here support the government even giving out these type of recommendations. Who the hell gives a crap what the federal government thinks about how much beer or wine we drink? And why the heck do we have an alcohol czar? oh, and (screw) Canada. Biden alcohol czar says US may follow Canada, limit beers to two a week: 'what a joke'
Alcohol is the number one substance used and abused in this country, responsible for more deaths than even opioids. But because it's legal, I guess we shouldn't have anyone in charge of reviewing whether national policies and guidance are effectively mitigating its negative societal impacts. I just really don't understand how a lawyer makes such flimsy arguments...
I think our culture embraces and celebrates alcohol consumption in a way that understates its health and social costs. The notion that moderate alcohol consumption is healthy or even beneficial seems dubious at best. The more I've read suggests to me that most of that is BS being pushed by industry. I'm fine with some push back on that narrative - even though I'm considered a heavy drinker (aka "job creator"). Personally, I'm far more concerned about the fact that we arrest and incarcerate people for drugs that I think are less dangerous and harmful than alcohol. Guidelines and education are a much better approach than prohibition.
I will make a recommendation to the government. Stop wasting our tax dollars. Oh and I suggest 3 beers daily minimum.
I'm not sure guidelines alone make any difference, but we already have them. If we're going to have them, they should at least reflect the best medical and scientific data available. Or we ought to just not have them at all. In terms of money, we already spend lots of it addressing the externalities associated with the use of alcohol, to include domestic violence, addiction, impaired driving, negative health impacts, drunken fights, or whatever. For the record, I'm way over your suggested daily minimum.
I really don’t understand anyone with an elementary school education not understand what an argument is. If you think I made an argument, maybe you should read a book or two about what an argument is. Likewise, if you want the govt to control your life, or need the govt to explain things to you…move way north. They like people like you.
This is actually good news for Bud Light and beer producers in general. Right-wingers, to own the libs, are going to start drinking a lot more beer now.
