They won a playoff game after a cakewalk schedule, there is that. Vegas said at tge time that Bama odds would be better. We all knew they weren’t a top four team.. it happens . Fsu could get there this year with an easy schedule.
All true, but I guess it really depends on the argument one wants to make. I doubt any of us thought tcu was better than bama, but hell, Bama didn’t even win their division. Clearly they were outmanned, outmatched, and outclassed by Georgia, but solid arguments could be made at that time to justify their inclusion.
Bama also would have made a better sec championship.. lsu wasn’t really talented enough yet. Bama was a flawed team last year but still had the best shot.
I don’t think we’re really disagreeing much. I don’t disagree with your opinions, but all we can do in the moment is look at the available information and Bama had not done enough to justify their inclusion. That left only TCU as the only real viable option, regardless of how many of us saw that playing out.
I don’t have a problem with TCU getting in and they did win a game. The problem lies in the scheduling in college football. Our schedules are not created equal, but then they want to hold the records as equal quantifiers. In reality, when it says the four best teams should make it, Bama should’ve been in over TCU. Everybody at the time and the opinion that Bama was the better team just did not have the better record because they play in the SEC.
I get this train of thought from us getting into the national championship against Ohio State while Kurt Herb Street says we don’t belong on the same field with them. Records and conference championships are not equal and that has been proven.
What exactly is a “improper” benefit now? It couldn’t have been much to only get parked for one game. Meanwhile at… LSU star Maason Smith suspended by NCAA for Florida State game over improper benefit, per reports
According to NOLA.com this is for autographs he was paid for before NIL began. They suspended him last year but he wasn't able to serve it because he missed the season due to injury. LSU defensive tackle Maason Smith suspended by NCAA for Florida State game, sources say
Well, the NCAA denied FSU's DT as well, but Maason Smith is a way better player. It's a good thing LSU still has preseason All-American Wingo at DT.
