A good offense should be able to score 35 points per game. That’s scoring 1 TD per quarter with an extra TD in just one quarter. Plus having a good Defense gives us the ball frequently. That’s not too far reaching to expect of a good team.

Any team needs goals… realistically according to how good they are on offense and defense.

Our team needs to plan to score at least 1 TD per quarter and an extra one somewhere… that will get us 35 points. I believe that doable.. and that what I hope to see.

Yes, I have been disappointed for like others have in past play. But you have to have a plan, a goal… and everyone must be playing their very best to get there. I guarantee the really good teams prepare themselves to score a lot to TDS.
    We must do the same.

    That’s what I think.
You can think whatever you want.
But if anyone wants to win, they have to have a plan and set goals
    for every game.

Teams that want to win set their minds to win no matter what.
That’s reality to those who want something.
I believe the Gators are good enough to do this.

The O/U is probably like 6 or 7 wins. I guess some have it as low as 5.5? Ouch. But I can’t disagree too much.

I think the big mo (as well as injury luck) plays a huge role. If we beat Utah, I’d at least have hope we could come out of the gate hot in those first 6-7 games. To at least get a bit of early hype and beat the “experts”. We might still fade late against this schedule, but at least it gets some positive momentum and makes the rebuild job seem a bit closer to fruition.

On the other hand, if you drop to Utah and then UT, at that point just getting to that 6-6 is a climb.

Definitely agree. We will almost certainly need to win 4 of the first 6 to get to 7 or more. @USCE, UGA, Arkansas, @LSU is just a brutal gauntlet. 4-6 going into Missouri game seems very likely. I swear, I get optimistic until I open the schedule. It's just a war every single week.

I'm really cheering for Mertz. This schedule becomes so much more manageable with a good QB. I think he can be that but we will see. The good news is ESPN FPI has us as heavy dogs in only Utah, UGA, and LSU games. Mertz showing out changes everything really.

    6-6

Would love to be pleasantly surprised. But we need to be prepared for a rough ride and not get too upset if this season does not go well. We have to be patient, because we dont do ourselves any favors doing otherwise.

I’m going with 8-4, with losses to Utah, USCjr, UGA & LSU. I’ve gone back and forth on the Utah game. With it being on the road, in a tough environment, 2 time zones away, and with our youth and inexperience for a game 1 …I just think a win shouldn’t be expected.

We get back on track at home for the next 3. Take care of UK & Vandy like the good old days. But then struggle on the road vs the Cocks and fall to UGA & LSU.

We do end the season on a positive note, unlike last year, by handling Mizz and F$U. And end up in the Outback bowl against the B1G’s #4.

Not up to UF standards, but a successful season, with all things considered.

35 pts would be enough to be in the top 20 of scoring offenses, most years. I don’t think that’s a realistic expectation for this year.

The D is where we should expect improvement in point differential this year. Shave off 7-8 points a game on D, while just maintaining last years offense production would be reasonable.

You didn’t really give Tennessee much but I hope we beat them too. I’ll be at that game. If we do as we as you think, you might as well say nine wins and beat usce too.

UT is a part of the 3, I referenced at home after Utah. As far as USCjr, I’m thinking there will be a brain fart game somewhere. After we embarrassed them last year and with them being right before UGA it sets itself up as a potential trap game.

Optimism is one thing and self-delusion is something else. I am looking at the same recent past and extremely young but talented roster that everyone else here is. TBH, the "half-full/half empty" argument is in full swing in my head as I write this post. A factor that is near the top for me is whether or not can we develop the level of grit, teamwork, consistent effort and "courage in the moment" that we haven't seen much of since Trask burst onto the scene at UK and the team rallied behind him all the way into '20. But I guess that more than anything else, I just want them to play like the FLORIDA GATORS again...starting ASAP, GG!

I said 7-5 too and Georgia as the only loss that may be out of hand. I think if we go 7-5, we have a shot in every other game. If that’s legit where we are , we could win or lose multiple games and tgat number could change drastically for better or worse. We could have almost every game on the line. Last year we lost almost all those close games. Hopefully this year we have a few more that we pull out. Defense please help.

That's what I'm hoping for - that we can win one or more of the 'dog games. The schedule is so tough that we can't much afford unexpected losses. Would love to see this team get some swagger Vs. I know we're supposed to be patient and all, but dayum . . . . let's go Gata!

Probably not, but he sure has a couple stud RBs. If he can somehow craft an effective offense around them, our veteran WR, and the young fast guys, we are going to be hell to pay against everyone we play.
