The dream of owning a home is virtually gone, don't have money for emergencies and can't afford medication. Yet here we are ONCE AGAIN talking about transgenders and book bans. I hope that one day people will come to realize that it's all a distraction to keep us from focusing on the true things that most Americans feel are the real issues
Just one more corporate tax cut, and the American dream will be restored. For realz this time. We promise. -A Republican, probably.
Years ago when I was a young un maybe 8th grade I had the pleasure of coming across book called “Six Days of the Condor”. Later became the movie 3 Days of the Condor (don’t know what happened to the other days but I digress). Now I don’t remember a single thing from that book except for one passage a sex scene. To this day I remember that line “She came to him before midnight her hair still wet from the shower. We moved slowly as first time lovers often do”. Also something pertinent about breasts. I read that page over and over again in 8th grade It’s a good thing Viagra didn’t exist because I might have called a doctor about my 4 hour boner. Why would anyone want to take that pleasure away from a young ute of any sexuality?
One DemoncRAT has already jumped in. Got an email from her today Sen. Rick Scott picks up a Democratic challenger for 2024
DeSantis is truly shameless: Ron DeSantis' redistricting court strategy: attack the Voting Rights Act The state’s lawyers asserted that DeSantis could buck the voter-approved Fair District provisions and any other constitutional requirements if he finds them in conflict with federal law. His legal team went so far as to argue that amendments ratified by the citizens deserve less legal protections than statutes enacted by the Legislature. This posture contrasts sharply with the governor’s removal of two elected state attorneys, whom he chastised for allegedly failing to enforce state laws.
It’s not stupid. It is designed to embolden the extreme right to object and Ban books. Generally, the left doesn’t push banning books because it is a non-liberal idea.
Right. Amendments that require fair representation of monitories are inconsistent with the 14Th Amendment and VRA, But the legislature and Governor drawing lines to cut out minority representation is consistent with those laws. Let’s watch what the Florida courts do. This will ends up in SCOTUS.
The Sun-Sentinel reported today that Broward County is suffering from a dramatic drop in tourism. Conventions that previously came to Broward County are re-routing to places like New Orleans. The cause is explicit and clear - the Conventions don’t want to come and support a State whose policies favor anti-racial and bigoted views such as rewriting history and silencing gays, amongst many, many other travesties. According to Broward County, 10% of its population are employed in the tourism trade, and jobs will be impacted. In perhaps the most ironic follow-up, Broward County had purchased (I think at a cost of $750,000) a float to participate in the California ROSE BOWL PARADE to promote tourism.
Neither perception nor polls determine how safe a city is. It would be like saying, "Poll determines that UGA won the college football national championship in the 2008 season."
I missed that one. He is supposedly working on gerrymandering State Attorney districts, no longer tying them to judicial districts
A Congressman from Santa Rosa County filed a bill that would prevent concert venues from canceling the 'less government' tour of his cover band. HB 15 (2024) - Contracts for Live Entertainment | Florida House of Representatives Florida Republican files bill that bans venues from canceling shows over political views, social media posts
Socal is an interesting place to pitch Florida tourism. Maybe someplace cold and snowy, like the northeast or midwest? just sayin.....
