That’s true, forgot about some planes going down at the hands of Wagner.

Still, the convoy itself just seemed to be casually rolling through the streets. Maybe command was paralyzed about what to do and this explains the “stand down” during the march of that convoy , but I tend to think if Putin legit felt threatened he would have sent forces to stop them and there would have been a real battle at some point. It’s not like the guy was ever going to get directly to Putin with such minimal resistance. That was never going to happen.

He may have ordered troops and they didn't follow orders and all the subsequent retirements were due to that

Although it still hasn't been absolutely confirmed that Prigozhin was on the plane, the most likely explanation for the crash was an explosive device placed on the plane rather than a missile. In any event my reaction after his coup attempt failed wasn't whether Putin would eliminate Prigozhin but rather when and how and now we know the answer to both questions. Once the coup attempt failed, Yevgeny Prigozhin became a dead man walking.

The Russian news agencies immediately had the manifest information for those 10 people on this private plane.
Don't overthink it...the fix was in by Putin.

Neocons and lapdog media playing up “Bad Man Putin” on this to distract attention from failures in Ukraine and elsewhere.

True. And who else was present? None other than that spooky guy Christopher Walken.

You're referring to Putin's failures? When he launched the invasion of Ukraine the former KGB colonel was expecting a repeat of the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968 or Hungary in 1956. Although there are some significant differences he ended up with a situation more like the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in 1979.

Pfft. The Kiev in three days was purely an invention of our own General Mark Milley.

And do you really want to bring Afghanistan into a discussion about failures ?

The media seems to be pointing more likely to a bomb on board now. Putin expressed his public condolences to the dead. o_O

I mentioned that in post #44 yesterday. Seems to be the most likely cause since there probably would have been photographic evidence from spy satellites if either a surface to air or air to missile had shot the plane down.

The following quote comes immediately to mind.
