Your President Joe Biden gettin' her done

The RNC took a shot at Biden yesterday for petting a dog in Hawaii.

That's just how deranged republicans are these days.

 

I'm sure there are. There were protestors when Biden arrived. Usually MAGA suspects carrying things like "Trump Won" signs. Other Hawaiian nationalists that don't enjoy white people dictating things on the islands. But the only people I've read or heard complaining about the speech are right wing pundits and right wingers on this site.

Yes, what Biden went through pales in comparison with what the residents of Maui experienced. He said as such. Still, why all the bitching at an attempt at empathy? And not a horrible one at that. I'm sure Biden had moments of fear and uncertainty while waiting for the firefighters to arrive at his house. Feelings I'm sure many Maui residents had as well.

 

You can always count on Biden to tell a story that didn’t happen.

 

What part didn't happen? The kitchen fire? The calling of the firefighters to put it out? Those both happened, and are documented. Maybe Biden embellished the severity of the fire, but any time you need to call the fire department out to put out a fire, you never know how serious the call is, or might end up.

 

I'm not going to die on this hill to defend Biden. Definitely looks like he embellished and the corvette part is just tone deaf

 

I just don't get how many of the left can defend Biden daily with his embellishments and flat out lies, yet call everything right a cult and the orange God.
Take a minute and look over the last few years at all the times Biden tried to relate by just lying, and the left just keep defending him.
I am assuming most of you feel he is one of the greatest Presidents ever and will move to have him added to Mt Rushmore anytime now.

 

Sure. That is a total disconnect from reality. No one is worshipping Biden like the MAGAs do Trump. I am one of his more fervent defenders and he was 4th or 5th on my list to vote for. He has been surprisingly effective and entirely presidential in his role as our esteemed President. These moronic attempts to distract from that fact are simply self gaslighting at its finest. Rightwingers lost the moral high ground with Trump combined with their crazy fantasies about Obama and Biden and can never get that high ground back... ever.

 

So, this is nothing but distractions and gaslighting of you effected and esteemed President?

Embellishing a story in order to be empathetic is way, WAY down on my list of faults in a POTUS. In fact, I'm not sure it's a fault. Parables are often embellished stories to make a point. And if Biden embellishes the facts on his house fire so he can connect to those in Maui who survived a true tragedy, why is that a bad thing? It makes Biden human.

Biden isn't perfect. He's a bit milquetoast and at times embellishes the wrong thing, or at the wrong time. But he's surrounded himself with solid aids, and been a good POTUS. Look at all G7 countries. What country has better economic growth and lower inflation? Violent crimes are slightly on the rise, but murder rates are down. And our allies aren't scared that our POTUS is cozying up to despots like Xi and Putin.

Now contrast that with Trump. 91 indictments and counting, and people still love him. I can assure you, if Biden was indicted and the evidence was half as bad as what it is against Trump, I wouldn't be supporting Biden any more. But to date, the only evidence Biden has done anything criminally wrong is innuendo and hearsay for Hunter Biden's actions. Show me solid connections between Hunter and Joe when it comes to criminal business activities, and my opinion of Biden will change. Has anyone ever changed his/her opinion on Trump?

 

You have a warped sense of empathy.
I can't believe that you think embellishing or flat out lying about a personal experience shows empathy. If that is how you do things it tells me just how out of touch and condescending, you are as person. You can have empathy but when you try to compare a relatively small kitchen fire to kids being burned to death in their house you are better off just commenting on how sad you are for them and what can we do to help.

 

You've never told a "fishing story" to embellish to make you look better or more empathetic? You are always a straight shooter and deal with absolute facts 100% of the time? And you never like it when others embellish their own stories? Plenty of people love it when Trump embellishes, or outright lies. Do you?

Again, embellishing a true story to gain empathy is something almost all humans do. As long as they don't compare the embellished story as a 1:1 analogue to the other person's truth, it's a way people connect to others. And Biden didn't say his fire was in any shape or form as bad as what happened in Maui. He was sure to say what happened to him pales in comparison to the tragedy in Lahaina.

Last, I have to to see actual Hawaiian upset at Biden's embellishment. Only right-wing talking heads and a few far right on this board seem to be upset. Same people who complained when Bill Clinton said, "I feel your pain," or disliked Obama's speech he gave in Tucson after the Giffords' shooting.

 

Well, if you are ok with then fine for you. I have a differing opinion of claiming almost losing your wife, which he didn't, 67 vette, still has with classified docs in it, and a cat to a small kitchen fire that took less then 20 minutes to respond to and put out, to 100's of kids and people being burned alive in their house and losing everything. I fail to see the comparison.
And if you can't tell the difference between embellishing a fishing story and an entire community being burned to the ground then like I said, you have a warped sense of empathy.

 

When did Biden say his story was anywhere near the catastrophe of what occurred in Maui? He didn't. In fact, he made a point to say what he went through pales in comparison to the tragedies in Lahaina. Still, that moment of fear when you see a fire, and have to call the fire department to help, and you don't know how big, or how dangerous the fire will get? I think that's real. And that translates, in my opinion. Thankfully, Biden's greatest fears were never realized with his fire. And unfortunately, those in Maui suffered the absolute worst. But it doesn't change the potential connection of fear and trepidation of now knowing what might happen when you are in a situation where there's a fire, and you need to call 911 for help. Again, empathy. Not warped at all.

Oh, and Biden allowed the FBI to search his home and offices for any additional classified docs when they were found. Just like Pence. Can Trump say the same? No. His return of docs required several subpoenas and eventually a search warrant.
