Except what data is it based on?
Is there a link to the actual data?
    The dates seem arbitrary.
It may be true, but I've learned that facebook memes often are not accurate at all.

Did some sleuthing. The map was made by a person or group that calls itself The Decolonial Atlas and the data for the map is from the Anti-Defamation League's heat map of extremist incidents.

Haven't checked the validity of DA's map, or ADL's data, but have checked ADL data in the past and it's based off of reported incidents--which of course means that there can be some disagreement around specific incidents etc. and whether individual cases fall within their defined criteria or about the criteria itself but I wouldn't call ADL's data arbitrary (I know you didn't, just saying).

I agree with you about Facebook memes in general or even tweets in the absence of links to actual studies that support what is being claimed.

But anecdotally this one would shock me if it’s not accurate or close to it. Seems like every other month some racist, neckbeard, trump incel shoots up a church/school/store etc. Meanwhile I can’t remember the last clear cut example of Islamic terrorism here in the US. Maybe Pulse?

And it’s pretty wild how much of the American psyche was dominated by anti Muslim rhetoric for a while there. We started two wars and spent trillions in response to 9/11. All that hemming and hawing over ISIS. “The religion of peace strikes again!” Seems like we aren’t spending nearly as much capital protecting the US from homegrown domestic terrorist threats. I guess it’s harder to demonize a clear cut enemy when they are amongst us.

    Sounds like "suicide by cop."

If he wanted to off himself, he could have left the store owner out of it, gone out in the middle of nowhere and gotten it over with.

You have to remember that for viewers of right wing media, they never learn about some of these incidents, or they are presented as false flag, etc., and they are constantly bombarded by supposed BLM violence, etc. So they don't appreciate how obvious the point is.

With some murders, the murderer either has suicidal thoughts that precede killing another person or after confronted, they're just not going to be taken alive--basically fight or flight.

He also fled the scene after the murder. He was found several miles away.

Sounds to me more like a deranged armed individual with anger issues and anti LGBTQ hate. The incident itself doesn’t sound at all like suicide by cop. Hard to figure what he was thinking after that murder. Maybe once he knew they were onto him he decided at that point not to be taken alive, or maybe he just thought he could shoot his way out of it. Unfortunately we will never know those aspects, but there is a general idea as to his motive.

Killer identified as 27yo Travis Ikeguchi, a resident of Cedar Glen/Lake Arrowhead, which is a San Bernardino mountain community (a fairly affluent one, fwiw).

Self- id'd as Christian and had a history of posting anti-LGBTQP hate on social media.

trump and desantis are very similar imo. Both pander intolerance. Both use a deference to “christian principles” as blanket cover to avoid legitimate, rational explanations for policy decisions that intentionally further marginalize large portions of the American public. Both are intellectually vapid. Therefore, both prey on the most violent and bigoted tendencies of mankind to garner support. Both are a threat to our promise of liberty, freedom, and justice for all.

I would agree. A hate crime and he was too chickenshit to face the consequences when the cops cornered him.

Even more so he wasn’t white. That really messes with the narrative. :D:eek:

Amazingly, not one news story I’ve seen mentions his ethnicity.

Agree with some of your post. But here I dont think the 2 things are comparable. No-one "Believes" and I mean "Truly Believes" in a video game but some people do "Truly Believe" in a cause, a cult, and cult leader sometimes to the point they are willing to kill themselves or others. And yes, I am including some of the extreme trump supporters - those that think he was sent by God for example- as members of a cult.

I have seen other elected RW politicians claim democrats are America-hating groomers and pedophiles. If you believe, truly believe, someone is a pedophile then your course of action is clear and God is on your side
