Trask showed in college the ability to run a passing offense with not much running game and a limited time to get the ball out. I think he would do better than having a mobile qb trying to extend plays and getting himself killed.

I find it hard to believe that Vick’s running success is a byproduct of teams letting him have it as opposed to his speed and shiftiness as a runner. I’m going to have to strongly disagree with you on that.

I think most NFL defensive coordinators understand that passing wins Super Bowls. You just have to live with the yardage gained by the legs but you cannot give up 400 yards passing and still win often. It’s just best to try to contain and not let them have the long ones.

I think Trask is good enough to figure it out. He has a very fast computer processor in his brain. We saw how Franks made defenses look a lot better than they were, but Trask shredded them. For an NFL comparison, look at the Bucs after Brady got there. They were a below average team and then immediately won the Super Bowl. Good offense beats good defense.

That’s not the same as saying that teams “let” Vick have running yards as the reason why Vick had success running the ball. Regardless, Vick was a very good QB, and possibly could have had a hall of fame career if he didn’t mess himself up in the dogfighting criminal activity. He went to prison for two years in his prime.

I’m trying not to be biased. Trask and mayfield played with the exact same offensive weapons and an almost identical OL. Baker didn’t play yesterday because they wanted trask to get the 2 minute warning drive. Folks are complaining because trask is getting too many snaps?!?

I’ve seen some crazy takes on football in general on the internet and social media, but “the other team let him run for all those yards” might be the wildest I’ve ever seen. Just wow lol

I am not talking about Trask's skill at the NFL level, I am plainly questioning Bowles and Company's acumen coaching an offense, O-line especially. It looked BAD when the sort-of-regulars were in for the Jets.

And on draft day you were completely wrong. What you know now doesn’t change the facts of that

1999 nfc championship games says different.. Rams were the most prolific offense in NFL history till they ran into the buccaneers defense. If the bucs offense wasn’t so bad they win that game walking away .. final score 11-6.. but then again the calls that are made in todays game a 1999 defense would probably get flagged almost every down

You sound a lot like what 99 percent of people said about Trask before he took the reins here after Franks went down. They were all wrong, too.

    Great post because spot on!!!
O line not performing. Had no running game first half due to no blocking. Drops by receivers were tough. Kyle grades out as a A- for me. In terms of development Bucs smart to go with Kyle but pretty sure they won’t.

I think he's still in a good place, even if Baker wins. Baker takes too many risks with the ball. He's a shorter Jameis Winston without the arm. Eventually he will get benched. Trask will be ready. He's shown that he's valuable enough to have on the bench at the very least. His time will come.

I don't know. This situation might have set up really well for him. How many young QBs get thrown in early and flame out because they were not afforded an opportunity to develop? esp. under a veteran QB. Trask, meanwhile, got to practice and observe the GOAT for a couple of seasons. Look at guys like Aaron Rodgers, who also got a few years to grow before becoming the guy. If Trask is NFL starter material, he will get this shot.

No. It's when he got those snaps that people are figuring that Baker is qb1. Most teams sit a lot of their starters in preseason game 2 (AR sat for the colts, , Rogers for the Jets, etc). By not sticking to the plan to play Mayfield in the second half, it suggests the starting decision has been made.

"While Mayfield appears lined up to be QB1 in Tampa Bay, Trask hasn't been given the opportunity to start with the first-team offense, and doing so could have made a huge difference as a number of the receivers he was throwing to on Saturday were dropping passes."

Kyle Trask Draws Positive Reviews from Bucs Fans vs. Jets as Baker Mayfield Sits.

I don't mean to continue the Vick hijack, but I agree with you on him. I had a similar conversation with a poster about Jalen Hurts a few years ago. I don't remember which poster it was, but they insisted that Hurts was not a QB. I insisted that he was a QB. Well look at Hurts now . . . . ;)

Vick wasn’t Patrick Mahomes, but bad to average? No way.
