Special teams haven't been taken seriously at Florida since Urbs was the coach, every coach since parks it with a GA or Intern.
From Sports Illustrated: Sophomore linebacker Shemar James (knee) and freshman edge rusher Kelby Collins (unknown)-- Napier offered a 7-to-10-day return-to-practice timeline for James on Aug. 7, and said Collins " could be back sooner than later" on Aug. 11. Redshirt junior tight end Dante Zanders (lower-body) would be out for "10 days or so."
What excites me the most about 2023 is that it's not 2022 anymore. It's a whole new year with a brand new batch of Gator football player attitudes... with a new renewed sense of hope. And for those that were here last year it's one more year in Napier's system. Go Gators.
Guys! What excites me the most about the 2023 season is that i am still here to enjoy it!! gators win 9 games with the new and improved defense!!
I am very much looking forward to having a battering ram. Battering CAM! Dude is going to move some people and move chains. Goal line wildcat?
I believe that the defense will be way more aggressive, and that could win a game or two. Also I think the running game will be better as from what I read on here the OL is much improved. The passing game i'm not so sure about.
I'm thinking '25/'26, as we'll either be breaking in a freshman QB or will still be starting a backup caliber QB in '24.
Better get that tradition going quick. No spring chickens on that stage, if you catch my drift Kimber looked really fast on that interception return. Fingers crossed for a breakout season for him.
I agree the QB spot is tough in 2024 but Billy owns it at that point. The third year is always absolutely key for coaching regimes
I hear ya, but I'm also tired of the coaching carousel around here. As long as we're recruiting at a high level and our teams show overall improvement each year, I'm willing to be patient.
The defense I'm hopeful. The OL may take time to come together; meaning we will probably have some false starts. I am beginning believe Mertz might do a manageable job at qb to signifcantly win some games.
I always try to avoid becoming overly optimistic every year... But every year, around this time, especially when reading all of the positive articles... it becomes impossible for me!
I am most excited about Mertz. You're not Rivals #1 QB unless you're good, and the kid spent three years playing in a system that just isn't very QB friendly. The weapons he's going to have here.... He's going to prove a lot of people wrong.
