I must admit that I confused my civil and criminal remand procedure. Jones found summary remand wasn’t appropriate and, pursuant to 1455(b)(5) set a prompt evidentiary hearing for 8/28. So no motion to remand necessary in the criminal context.
For Meadows at least. Not sure the whole thing moves. Which is another advantage for him, not getting the guilt by association issue of a really big defense table.
The Georgia jury pools come from a combination of sources...Department of Driver Services provides lists of people with current or expired DLs or state ID cards and the Secretary of State provides a list of registered voters. Together they make up the master list of potential jurors. Anyone who isn't registered to vote and never got a DL or ID card will fly under the RADAR.
The names of all the Georgia grand jurors were listed on the indictment. MAGA Nation has now published all of their addresses as well. There are going to be problems, including violence.
Tweets from non verified accounts apparently don’t show. Trump supporter threatening the judge. https://x.com/ryanjreilly/status/1691946570936140135?s=61&t=Txm-mjaJo1cwIn6vbZJYEA
ATLANTA — The purported names and addresses of members of the grand jury that indicted Donald Trump and 18 of his co-defendants on state racketeering charges this week have been posted on a fringe website that often features violent rhetoric, NBC News has learned. NBC News is choosing not to name the website featuring the addresses to avoid further spreading the information. The Fulton County District Attorney’s Office declined to comment. District Attorney Fani Willis faced racist threats ahead of the return of the indictment, and additional security measures were put in place, with some employees being allowed to work from home. The grand jurors' purported addresses were spotted by Advance Democracy, a nonpartisan research group founded by Daniel J. Jones, a former FBI investigator and staffer for the U.S. Senate Intelligence Committee. https://x.com/davidaxelrod/status/1691960824816967713?s=61&t=Txm-mjaJo1cwIn6vbZJYEA
Trump says he's going to release an "irrefutable" report on voter fraud on Monday that will prove he and all his codefendants are innocent. His former lawyer seems to think this will backfire in his face. The man just can't stop digging himself deeper. There's video of Roger Stone discussing the coup plot before Biden had been declared the winner. I tried to post it but couldn't.
I don’t think Trump’s argument is anywhere near as close to being within the scope of his employment. Kind of hard to assert that participating a racketeering scheme to engage in an autogolpe is within the scope of your duties to preserve, protect and defend the constitution and take care that the laws are faithfully executed.
I think MAGA ends up being officially labeled a terror group or cult in the not so distant future. There are going to be some serious tantrums once those verdicts start coming in.
Without Orange, will his voters come out for other candidates? Rafael hopes so. acceptance is the first sign of recovery One of the interesting (sad) parts of this is how the mob has been harnessed and even legislated into power.
