Simply instead of complaining, the women should all in unison, drop out of the event before it starts as a protest.
Do it enough times in a row, the governing bodies will change their tune.

Not really. A religion cannot exercise legal domain over its adherents. In some isolated examples, a religion can act upon medical decisions if an individual is incapacitated, but only if the individual has given express written consent to said religion ahead of time. A religious figure could, in theory, become a power-of-attorney for an individual, but said individual would have to voluntarily give those rights to the representative of said religion. Otherwise, religion is an exercise of free will. A church cannot force you to attend. They cannot force you to do anything. I suppose they could try, but then they'd be in legal trouble themselves.

I mean, you're not wrong, but the women shouldn't have to do that. Such a move would reduce the issue to a political or moral stand. The issue is schizophrenia.

I agree it's a mental illness but to get the results women want faster, a refusal to compete will get them there.

Just an observation, gender disphoria appears to me to be the only mental disease that practitioners lean into harder/deeper. Meaning they give the person what they want rather than try to manage or cure them.

If one has body dismorphia, the doctor isn't prescribing more cosmetic surgery to cure it.

Can anyone think of a mental disease that doctors tell the patients to go deeper into it?

I don't see what you're so upset about. Yes, I see the poll results. It seems almost unanimous that the posters on THFSG don't think biological men should be able to participate in female sports. So, why all the outcry? I think some of you are so sensitive as to being perceived as insensitive and you don't want to call it what it is.

You're fretting a "totalitarian state" and I'm the one who's upset?

Well, the OP isn't merely a poll of THFSG posters view on biological men competing in women's sports. There's a story included about the Canadian Powerlifting Union allowing a biological male to compete in a women's powerlifting competition. How did Canada arrive at that point where they feel compelled to allow a biological male to compete in a women's powerlifting contest and smash all of the records in said competition?

91% of a somewhat left leaning board answered 'no'. And you think that means we're becoming a totalitarian state?

Meanwhile a large majority of Republicans believe the lie that the 2020 election was stolen because their leaders told them it was. Do you think that means we are becoming a totalitarian state?

While somewhat of an exaggeration the latter is much more of an indication that we could be heading towards becoming a totalitarian state than the former. It's much easier to create a totalitarian state when a certain segment is predisposed to believe a "big lie" promoted by the potential totalitarian leadership.

Yeah what's going on on the right with Trump and the election lie is a much bigger threat to our democracy than a small percentage of people believing that biological males should be allowed to compete with females. Ironically making a huge deal about issues affecting a small percentage of marginalized people is kinda a totalitarian thing to do -- creating scapegoats.

So did your poll results turn out the way you thought? More than 90% said no.

We'll eventually be an authoritarian state because China will take over the earth after a world war with us.
This will take place because liberal minds and their weak contingent allowed it to fester first and happen.

I brought up the idea of Trump supporters being seen as sheep to highlight that the designation of who is sheep will always be in the eye of the beholder. The main question in which I think we are faced here is who decides which group is sheep? I believe that any answer to this question that has anything to do with government would be a form of totalitarianism.

I think you raise a valid point that social pressure can function in the same fashion, which has been highlighted by many thinkers. Here is Tocqueville from 1840 describing what we would likely today call cancelling:

In America, the majority draws a formidable circle around thought. Within these limits, the writer is free, but woe to him if he dares to go beyond them. It isn’t as if he has to fear an Auto-da-fe, but he is exposed to all types of distasteful things and to everyday personal persecutions.”

Unfortunately, no clear solution to this problem presents itself. Despite how problematic this social state is, I still believe that most government correction, such as legislating what should be taught in state universities, is a clear step toward totalitarianism.

I believe that you have here produced two conflicting descriptions of the problem. In the former, you have identified “the government” as the key to totalitarianism, and the in the latter, you’ve placed the problem at the feet of “society”.

If we are going to claim that all of society is capable of being brainwashed, we must ask ourselves who is impervious to this pitfall that we can trust to determine when society has made such a collective mistake? This is an especially difficult question when we agree that the answer cannot be the government.

speaking just for myself, the photos of the participants are irrelevant. The team you play on in my world depends on whether you can sign your name in the snow, in cursive, while peeing, without surgery. That’s the boy’s team.

I have no issues with your solutions. But it wouldn’t be legal under the current Title IX.

so there are somewhere near 20 million Americans who believe the 2020 election was stolen? Do you have a link?

Since you did some research on this how does that number compare to the number of democrats who thought the 2016 election was stolen?
