Whittingham says this is the most talented team he's ever had. He doesn't go into detail so maybe he's just blowing smoke. https://www.si.com/college/utah/foo...elieves-2023-is-utahs-most-talented-team-ever
Florida will prepare for the Utah offense....schemes and system. I'm not sure what people think they will do differently in prep for Rising vs the backups
According to the CBS article, the Utah third stringer is both talented and accomplished in big games. Examining Utah's QB options with status of star Cam Rising uncertain for season opener vs. Florida
Based on their spring scrimmage footage and last year against them, I hope Armstrong plays tight press coverage and makes their wr’s beat us deep while bringing pressure with the front seven. While they have a very good OL, RB’s and TE’s, their receivers are not top shelf SEC quality imo. If we can’t cover them decently, it will be a long season in the SEC.
Cam and Kuithe seem doubtful to me. Neither would be effective were they to play. Just wanted to point out that their starting TE Yassmin is a beast and is very hard to tackle (which we need to improve anyway). Also, their RB Jaq Jackson is a bowling ball and is similarly hard to bring down. This will be a trial by fire for our D regarding tackling and inevitably will be a good lesson learned the hard way. If our DLine is as improved as I think, we can keep them to 21 or less pretty easily. I think we can run on them and that Mertz does enough to get us over 21. Utah does have talent though, I think one of their LBers Vaka #28 is all-american caliber. They have decent lines with a good mix of Samoan and aged-mormon strength, albeit slightly undersized. Man their WRs with a single-high safety (max), fill the running lanes with discipline, and sit under Yassmin (who Barnes will force it to) with an extra man who can double as a semi-spy and I think they struggle to score.
I believe the better phrase is "make sure he doesn't pull a Travis on us." Losing a game should not be about one player.
Was listening to High Top Sports yesterday and they said that Brent Kuithe could also miss the game too.
Yes, but a loss isn't devastating at the start of the season. About the worse thing that could happen is if we win handily against a limited offensive team and we think we are a playoff team as a result. THAT I would not desire.
