Both of these dudes just gave the best interviews I’ve seen in quite some time. So impressed with their insight…system knowledge..athletic knowledge…but even better….showing humbleness at the same time that they are overflowing with confidence!! Do yourself a favor and watch those interviews if you haven’t. Well worth it I think.

Fine articulate young men. Easy to root for. But durn, Mertz looks young! A reminder that, after all, they’re just college students trying to figure stuff out.

Mertz description of checks and complexities reveal the high IQ and experience needed to play for Napier.

As for impressiveness on camera, Wingo is the man, as seen on the last "This Is The Swamp" episode.

Mertz is another well spoken, confident young man. A great representative of the team and university.

He seems genuinely excited about playing in this offense and almost geeked out about the ability to exploit defenses with his calls.

Both very personable, confident, and authentic. I’m loving the way our Gators are carrying themselves since Napier arrived.

It's so refreshing to see players appreciate and be grateful for the opportunity they are given.

I read on another site that Mertz is a RS Junior. So we could technically have him for two seasons?

Correct. I have mentioned this before. The best scenario would be Mertz has a good year and comes back for one more and a possible championship. Allowing Lagway to either redshirt or not be rushed into the starting role. Used in packages or late in blowouts for experience.

Geez. Where have I been? Lol
I just assumed since he has been playing since the Obama Administration he only had one year.

Lagway is way too good to redshirt.
It may be QB1a and QB1b at worst...
like Chris Leak and Tim Tebow were.

He probably won’t redshirt but having Mertz return would take the pressure off of hurrying Lagway onto the field. Especially if Mertz has a decent year this year.
