I wish you'd post this on all "joke" threads... about this board's view on politically famous people. But it should be either fair game for all Politically famous people or out of bounds for all...

I consider it levity for the most apart, and both main Partys participate in it.

I think you misunderstood. I was just describing what are some common stereotypes, not my narrative. I never invented a stereotype.

Maybe stereotypes are not exclusive to just two types... in reality then?

    stereotype
    stĕr′ē-ə-tīp″, stîr′-
    noun
    1. A conventional, formulaic, and oversimplified conception, opinion, or image.
    2. One that is regarded as embodying or conforming to a set image or type.

Agreed. I never meant to argue that there are only two or that stereotypes are accurate representations. In fact, I was try to explain why the right and left possess such inaccurate views of each other.

Literally dealing with this now. A 90 year old pecan tree fell on our investment property. It took out all the private utility lines and the private pole. Because it didnt hit the structure they are trying to get out of reimbursement for the tree removal even though it blocked access and was on top of the power line.

Then they depreciated the value of the poll. $5k in damages and a $700 check is all I have so far.

Common sense is not their problem.

Agree. They use the minutiae to try and weasel out. Isn’t that what the lawyers do? It is amount making money for shareholders.

Thinking of not insuring my primary res. The numbers I’m seeing are astonishing. Farmers cut me loose.
The obvious downside is my house catches fire. What else am I missing?

I know people in Naples who have done that for years. I'm sure they've saved lots of money even after some relatively minor damage from a couple storms. Just have to be liquid enough to cover a potential catastrophic loss, and also consider the cost of bringing the house up to code if that's going to be required. Even if you don't have a mortgage requiring property coverage, I would definitely maintain liability coverage. Another thing some people do is really minimizing their contents limits if they don't keep a lot of valuables in the house.

And I cannot understand the right's obsession with Obama other than the possibility that the right still cannot stomach the fact the first Black president was elected twice with a majority of the popular vote. While he was and remains a significant historical figure, in terms his current role in government he is really irrelevant. He holds no elective office and probably never will again although I guess there is the extremely unlikely possibility that he could be the second former US president to become a SCOTUS justice as was William Howard Taft.

Maybe, just maybe, the race-baiting just like that from your post has a lot to do with it.

And considering that Trump could only win in 2016 with a whole bunch of people who voted for Obama voting for Trump, I don't think people generally dislike Obama because he's Black. They dislike him because he was a crappy President who demonized the opposition in one breath, then gave the whole sanctimonious unity speech in the next, and got high on his own supply to the point Democrats thought they'd never lose another election so they could say whatever they wanted about Republicans. Turns out they were wrong.

But if you think it's all about race, by all means keep peddling that narrative. As Obama's legacy worsens, this theory will continue to age like fine milk.

Also, you forgot first bisexual President.

Actually the main reason that Trump won in 2016 wasn't because the people who voted for Obama ended up voting for Trump, it was much more the result of people who voted for Obama just staying home or voting for Jill Stein. As far as demonizing the opposition is concerned Obama was never remotely close his one term successor.

Wind and Hail are different than fire, at least here in NC.

Can you really risk it though?

According to Gallup, Obama is the most popular former president who's still living.

Reagan and Bush 41 are viewed a little more favorably than Obama, but I think partisan animosity tends to subside the longer someone's out of office and once they've passed away. I also doubt Reagan or Bush 41 could win the GOP nomination today while Obama, on the other hand, is still popular among Democrats and almost certainly the reason Biden became president. I also think it's relevant that some on the right have said they think Michelle Obama would present a big problem if she jumped in the race.

In summary, Obama is still relatively politically active, and their family continues to pose an ongoing political threat. In fairness, some of that is their choice to remain in the discussion.

Retrospective Approval of JFK Rises to 90%; Trump at 46%
