funny for those of us that live here, the Fulton County DA charged young thug, YSL and 23 co conspirators on RICO charges. They have had 2000 potential jurors and still can’t seat a jury 7 months into selection. It’s been a circus and a mess. Interesting they would attempt that again.

YSL RICO trial: July marks 6 months since jury selection began

    Two four Fox headlines:
    Trump says indictment is wrong
    Indictment will cost taxpayer money
    Deadline to surrender
    Dershowitz on Hunter Biden

I expect this case to be removed to federal court under the criminal removal statute. Because Trump and others used their office to commit these alleged crimes. Can’t have a president facing charged in state court for actions using his office. And the RICO enterprise was the West Wing Administration!

And any review and potential appeal of that issue will take time. Cretinous won’t be decided until the end of the next SCOTUS term. This case isn’t gong to be tried any time soon.

There is obviously another indictment pending in Washington of the co-conspirators identifies there. Also, of the insurrection potentially. I am sure Smith is investigating the contacts by certain individuals with the seditionists before the insurrection. Smith was very careful to avoid official acts in the existing indictment that is limited to Trump and to charge narrowly and primarily focus on the fake elector and return to the states scheme, which are part of the same set of acts.

Would this open up the ability for him to be pardoned?

It is hard to believe when that Ga phone call came out that everyone didn’t go, oh what a dumb fox. The fact that it was ever made was unethical, the language, well you know.

I look for the DA to be recalled and replaced by a salamander type,

Yep, if it moves to the federal courts it opens up the pardon option or it just going away entirely if a gop candidate wins the white house in '24.

I think this is an open question. Not sure being charged of a conspiracy to overthrow a lawful election is an official presidential act.
I think it’s probably a toss up. Hard to argue that conspiring to overthrow an election is an official job duty.

Lot of talk last night by the talking heads about the fact that Meadows was indicted in Georgia but not by Smith. Does that suggest he cooperated in one but not the other? Will this make him less useful to Smith? Not sure if anyone's done a dive into his but interesting. Willis refused to answer whether she's been in talks with Smith, but I would be shocked if they're not communicating.

The group of Defendants could be described as Trump Christians United or TCU, making this Georgia vs. TCU. Hmmmm.

I think it's safe to assume that she's been talking with Smith. A little over a week ago she denied talking with him even remarking that she probably couldn't recognize him and he probably couldn't pronounce her name. Yesterday she completely evaded the question as to whether they may have been cooperating. Although obvious speculation it wouldn't surprise me if Willis and Smith are using the state indictment as leverage to "persuade" the defendants/potential witnesses to flip in the federal cases against Trump considering that Trump and for that matter any other Republican would not be able to pardon defendants convicted of violating state laws. Even if the case is removed to federal court, a real possibility, the pardon power still couldn't be used since it only applies to federal offenses.

I was wondering about this last night. If removal wouldn't change anything in terms of a possible pardon, is the only benefit to removal fa different judge/juror pool?

I think those are the primary benefits and considering that the jury pool would be broader it would be theoretically possible to find the one juror needed for a hung jury. Although it's a real "hail Mary" it may be easier in federal court to invoke the defense that Trump was acting within his duties as president when he pulled the stunts alleged in the indictment.

Looks like all these prosecutions will be over next week. Trump is ready to unleash the new Kraken, the overwhelming evidence showing the election was rigged against him. I expect the Marshall of the Supreme Court to make him President and jail Biden, Hillary, Obama, Jack Smith, Fani Willis, et al, by the end of Monday.
